Rapture is a Quake episode by Tronyn and [Kona]. This medieval-Norse pack is made up of four large monster-filled maps and three additional smaller maps. You travel through the four regions controlled by the elemental leaders of water, fire, earth and wind. We have created a gloomy, dismal world of medieval castles and underground fortresses using Daikatana and Hexen2 textures. Custom monsters and bosses are included in this tough episode.

'It seems the humans are bordering on finding out about you, Master. Several of our creatures have been killed in what looks like attempts to find traces of you in nearby kingdoms. They do appear to be getting closer.'

In the cloudy shadows, a humanoid figure stands. It listens to the Gremlin's report without particular worry and indeed, when the small, hunchbacked creature is done its speaking the figure seems to become part of the shadows and rises into the gloom.

In a swamp of the same realm, a pawn patrols the gateway to the next kingdom. The gloom of the swamp and the murky mud stagnate in the inactivity of the region. The guard has been let down so as not to draw unwanted attention, with only a skeleton crew of fighters and wizards left to guard the place. The nearby fortress-city still watches over the Rain Gate, but the decades allowed parts to fall into ruin and the constant rain to seep into the stone and grime. The timbered palisade still stands, but this area is considered safe; mankind has never attacked here, not even once.

Forces once here were diverted to more demanding stations; to the fortification of Gloom Keep, to the aid of the falling Ebon Fortress, or to the personal guards of Shub-Niggurath and Armagon. Others were sent elsewhere to invade the human world through their slipgates, while later on, massive crews were required for the mobilisation and ressurrection of Chthon and Armagon. Some of the guard left when Shub-Niggurath was destroyed, joining the Coven or wandering back to the lupine foothills in their newfound freedom.

Recently, though, the silence of the region attracted attention from high places. The swamp-fortress was seen as an excellent place to stage an attack from, with the enemy paying it little or no attention. Forces began to grow here, amassing to create a chaotic legion hell-bent on destroying a particular military base which had been sending attackers to the Nether Realms for years. However, before the army was ready to attack one man did stumble through the dreary gates, and was able to send one transmission back to his base. The Dark Lords had tipped their hand.

There is news of a human expidition being launched into the area within the immediate future, and so the northern legion has been put on the defensive. Every parapet is manned by an Ogre, in every dark corner a devil waits. Knights and dogs patrol the outer areas, while white wizards scour the skies. Doors are locked and barred, traps are set, and all is ready.
