Permutations of the Rotten
a b o u t
A new Nehahra episode by a non-Nehahra member, with a new story and setting. I believe the original idea of Quake was to be a dark world of rotting metal, wood and brick medieval, full of horrible monsters. The addition of base maps didn't help this theme at all. This is the way I imagined Nehahra to be, medieval fortresses combined with wastelands and industrial regions. So, inspired by Zerstorer, I set out to create a mini-episode that is dark and scary. Industrial mixed with medieval and metal, using ID's textures.

In the early dusk on 2036, our time was met with total devastation beyond the imagination.

The evening before had seen an amazing sunset, unlike anything any human had ever set eyes on. The sky was a strange blend of green and brown. As our people went to sleep, or on the other side of the globe awoke to this strange new sky, it began to transform. The sky somehow started to bubble and move like water. Our people were transfixed for only short period of time, for they too then started to transform. If time was still being recorded, it would only have been a minute later that the Earth was no more. The human race had met the apocalypse, it had come with total surprise. No one knew what hit and then it was all gone. Everything was all gone. Earth, the galaxy, the universe - the entire third dimension we lived in had ceased to exist...

For billions and billions of years, the third dimension stayed like this - a black mass of nothingness that stretched to infinity. Everything dead and gone, nothing left to grow. Until one day there was a spark. Just a small faint spark, almost nothing compared to the size of the black mass around it. But it was a single cell, which in many billions of years into the future would grow into life. Our third dimension was once again. In time, life was finally once again.

Several small patches of new civilisations scattered throughout the giant black mass. None of them knew of each other, except one. In this particular group grew a powerful entity, it's name was Shub Niggurath.

Shub was but a young creature, nevertheless a god against the primitive people of its world. You were part of another world millions of light years away. But one day, Shub felt your presence. You were the unfortunate victim of it's curiosity. With its growing powers it lifted you from your world, through the threads of the black mass and straight into her dark world.

You have absolutely no idea what kind of creatures lurk in this sinister world, and in your confused state you'll need to fight for your life, because Shub has ordered it's creatures to hunt you down. You're an intruder in their world, and your all alone...
