Re: Recent uploads

Should we be including 1024x768 screenshots now? The last few pack uploads have not had shots. I'd prefer to supply my own. But we should get the word out if this is the case.

Re: Recent uploads

No, don't include screenshots. Speedmaps typically don't get them, because normally they are fairly poor/unspectacular and only (supposed to be) downloaded by people who know what to expect. At least originally they were. I guess if you feel like some pack should have a shot, you can make one and post a link or send it.

Spirit: the_box.zip still produces error 788.

Re: Recent uploads

I ask because they made one for zjam2. I tried to post one in the comments but failed pretty spectacularly.

Re: Recent uploads

Last attempt, guys. I promise I won't bother you anymore. Used 7-zip on W7.

xl3.rar because it is not a zip.

What's with this strict zip-only policy anyway? I personally never use the .zip format, I prefer .rar because it's a bit better and most especially it has a recovery record feature, which .zip doesn't. Wouldn't it be more logical to support at least the most popular formats (zip, rar, 7z)?

Re: Recent uploads

Mugwump, Spirit, Negke and others have to maintain the site, which is offered at no charge. It's a small price to pay for such a good service. Here is their reasoning:

"Zip is widely supported, Windows natively can handle the format since Windows XP. MacOS and Linux have no trouble either."

from this page

Zip is widely supported, Windows natively can handle the format since Windows XP. MacOS and Linux have no trouble either.

Re: Recent uploads

Yes, I know they're doing a great job for free. I don't even use the injector anyway, I was just asking a question dictated by logic. It makes sense to me not to be exclusive to a single format. If .zip is so widely used, it's precisely because it is natively supported by Windows so that basic users don't have to think twice about it. But many people in the Quake community are more advanced users who prefer to use .rar or .7z because they're better formats than .zip, hence why it would seem logical to me to open the injector, and by extension Quaddicted itself, to those formats.

Re: Recent uploads

Sure, it would be great if Quaddicted supported any kinds of formats. Not exactly a novel idea. There is no way around it in the long run as even the supposedly advanced users proved unable to support simple standards.

I will gladly merge your patches in the Quake Injector and the Quaddicted review system. Just make sure your system supports any file format imaginable.
