I've been working on some view arms, then I can just take the texture from these and add it to the character model, because the uvw map is similar in it.

Now I got myself busy on doing a character model. I noticed that I get really frustrated when I was doing my human model, because the results kept failing without any success. I guess I better accept that I understand nothing about modeling or texturing a human (face). Well, here's an alien character:

Some sketches of them:

edit: updated the model pic

Probably no tail. My previous alien character got kind of bloated with features, just because I thought something would look good. Now I want to save some features for other characters. I'm pretty sure there will be an enemy with a tail, maybe more than one.

Oh, and I think it might be a she. I'm not quite sure. I plan to have 3 sexes of them. It's possible that this is not a male or female, but it's in the middle of transforming itself to male or female, or just has transformed itself to not have any sex, though it got some small boobs.

Don't know yet if I have them naked like this one is now... Clothed versions will be.

You know, not everyone needs a perfect steel ass, made of steel, with steel dimples, of steel.

Anyway, that's awesome work man

I'm all open to critique. At least this just gave me an idea. Someone at some other forum said that it looks too humanoid.. possibly meaning it looks too human. So maybe I squeeze that upper torso area to make it look like it had long arms and legs. That might make it look less human.

Well.. the female model got some less droopy booty.. that one's asexual, as it is missing the genitals.

edit:
Here's the result of the above idea. This one's the female, but the skin is not complete, it's missing her genitals. I stretched the arms a bit, squeezed the torso, stretched the feet. I decided to keep the fingers at human size, because it's just too damn hard to design items for characters that have really long fingers. Total height of the character didn't change at all.. it's 180cm about:

Another edit:
The center eye had started troubling me and I decided to make the eyes from spheres, which resulted in modifying the eye sockets in the head. I think it's better and closer to the concept sketches. This way I could make it look at some direction by rotating the eyes:

I've attached it to a skeleton partially. Here's some test pose.. testing how everything bends:

The skeleton.. the things hanging from the front & back in the hip, will be used for some clothing...
