It's not every day you see me use the word 'dreadful'... |
Maybe we can steal threads from other Quake forums. QuakeWorld.nu, QuakeSRC.org, maybe even from CheapAlert forums, or use necromanci to return from dead very very old threads.
Or we can re-start very long and boring discussion.
Merge I3D with Playboy Forums?
Are Gargoyles Leftotans?
Its the Doom 2 community dead or undead?
Can we start a CVS and start a join-adventure proyect?
etc... |

Doom's a damn fine game, so is Quake but most people grew up with Doom I suppose and regard it as the first great FPS. |

Yea, check zdoom webpage, it's where the entire community goes around, making mods, projects, asking for advice, etc. There's an entire zdoom wiki that's more complete than any quake one was, (specially after the fall of quakesrc). The only problem with it, is that those sectors are ugly as shit. |

Doom seems to bore me nowadays sadly... :/
Quake on the other hand is awesome. It's easy to mod for, has tons of badass engines and engine ports, is also easy to map for, has well designed (overall) monsters, MASSIVE theme compatibility (future base, medieval, metal / runic, egyptian, greek, etc.) and also looks good.
I love Quake so much, I'd go out on a limb to say it's the only FPS game I will ever want or need. _________________ "Roboto suggests Plasma Bazooka." |

Get freedoom then, it's 100% free and in beer and speech. And the original doom is like 10$ now. |

Which quake are you talking about? 1,2 or 3? Seems like quake modding means automatically quake 1 modding nowadays. |

Quake is copywritten with the name of Quake. Other titles are Quake2, Quake 3:Arena, Quake4, and Enemy Territory: Quake Wars. They do not have the title of Quake. The original, which we focus on, does.
I don't pick between Doom and Quake. I play them both avidly, follow the scenes and enjoy them. They are fairly different games in my opinion, and satisfy different moods quite well. I prefer Quake a little bit more, but Doom is one of my favorite games.
I am not going to compare communities. At least not in this thread. |
