I swear some of the stuff you can find buried in FTEQW is rather startling.

I guess FTEQW had to have this for CSQC for the software renderer, but still I find it highly impressive.

Without such functions, it is rather difficult to pull off things that generally are done in OpenGL via the matrix manipulation features.

also useful for the amazing self-correcting crosshairs.
And d3d.

Also note that glRotate/glTransform/glPushMatrix are depricated in gl3, but mneh

Oh, I just use the D3DX functions. They'll even work with OpenGL as they don't need a D3D device to be created, but I reckon if portability is a concern they're not an option.
