Dang! I cannot finish the god-damned mod because I am immediately killed when I spawn in the final level, and god mode makes the game crashes.

Also, a lot of things looks b0rked in darkplaces. Sad

Is there any fix for this ?

I think that aguirRe made a fixed progs.dat for Malice, but I don't remember.

Hey frag.machine,

nice to see someone else playing Malice. Unfortunately I spent never enough time to finish the final level. I guess you talk about this one:

This is really ridiculous ! No matter with which weapons you start. How could you defeat this "bot" without cheating ?

Standard GLQuake works fine when cheating inside this level (= godmode). I was able to kill the "flying head" of the robot and then a exit opens:

I am not shure if this really is a bug though. The only official bug I am/was aware is the one described inide Wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malice_%28video_game_mod%29

Quote:

The original release of Malice had a particularly bad bug, where the developers had forgotten to include a parachute in level 8 which was required as player needed to go down a very deep shaft. This made it impossible to complete the level and therefore the game. The developers admitted the mistake and advised players to use the console 'fly' cheat command until they were able to release a patch.

They also point out the bug in an included document.

Malice doesn´t place nicely with Darkplaces though. I experienced a lot of issues with Darkplaces. It was working ok with tenebrae and enhanced glquake though. If someone has a "patched" progs.dat for Darkplaces I would be interested too Very Happy

Cheers,
D$

Yup, that's exactly the level.

I can't even cheat in Darkplaces. Confused

Heh, sorry if I don't open this image, but I don't want to spoil the surprise.

Yeah, I am aware about this "ops, we forgot the parachute" bug. I died twice on this place before noclipping to continue.

Hmm, that would be a interesting project, rewriting the QuakeC to make it work as expected in most up-to-date engines. I'll think about this... Smile

I was able to decompile Malice... though, errors may abound.. and copyrights get infringed...

Wouldnt it be easier to say hack the map and maybe change an item (healthpack maybe) into the "utility_parachute" entity ?

Wait a sec, FINAL MAP IS 'D15.BSP' right?

There's a paracute to the left when i load up that map! Hmm, maybe my bootleg copy of Malice already hacked the map :O

Code:

{
"classname" "utility_parachute"
"origin" "82 -672 368"
}
