In addition to that idea created from pure boredom i've whipped up a staff in 7 minutes which should work great in Dosquake

Haha, man, the way you laid out the descriptions on that page =D
That's not quite what I had in mind though, with Return to the City of the Damned.
Basically, you've only got one class, that can do a mix of magics and whackums, from all the different weapons seen previously from Heretic to Hexen II. There would only be one Mana type, and it would slowly replenish to reflect the MP of the player. Depending on how you played, your stats would change accordingly. For example, if you mainly used whackum type attacks, you'd get stronger and do more damage, whilst using magic would increase your mana maximums.
Overall, the RPG elements would more closely resemble something outta Strife I guess.
Example weapon set:
1. Assasin Knife (Upgrades to Vorpal Sword)
2. ElvenStaff (Upgrades to Sapphire Staff)
3. Crossbow (Upgrades to Etheral Crossbow)
And more, but that gives the general idea. Your weapons would upgrade depending on what class you evolve into. i.e. you start as a Rogue, but if you use the crossbow often, you become an Archer (thereby gaining the Etheral Crossbow), and from there become a Sniper gaining even greater power and abilities.
Overall plot line would go along the lines of "Year pass since D'sparil gets defeated, some of his army goes to Korax, the rest congregate in the City of the Damned where unbeknownst to all a new evile power is growing, now you upon hearing about the lost treasures that lay still in the accursed city decide to try getting rich quick".
That's all for my nebulus rantage ;P _________________ "Roboto suggests Plasma Bazooka." |

Hello five years ago
On a side note, a project to re-implement Hexen II's HUD into FTE via CSQC would be awesome. I yet need to find time to replace the quake HUD in CSQC as a tutorial here.. |
