I was for letting 'em in to begin with, and after seeing Echon's post, I'm fully %100 convinced that letting them in is the way to go.

Isn't Quake2 just a modified Quake engine anyway? Smile The difference between some engine projects I've seen and the original Quake is much greater than the difference between Quake1 and Quake2. I don't really see what the issue is. Many of these projects could have achieved the same result starting from a quake1 base, a quake2 base, or from scratch.

I agree. You can even play the latest FrikaC mod with FTEQuake and next play Q2 deathmach with the same engine.

Echon, MauveBib:

Thank you guys! Echon, I'm really glad to know evilpope isn't representing the whole community - I was worried when we didn't get many posts from anyone else, and none even addressing him. Seeing posts like this is a wonderful breath of fresh air and a relief. I agree with MauveBib, I'm now 100% in favor of including Quake2. I look forward to the event.

I completely gave up on this discussion when evilpope started comparing the situation to the tsunami victims. I realized how sick and self-defeating the conversation had become, and decided to back out before I did more damage.

MauveBib really states the situation of last time really well. It might not have been right, but I think that shouldn't have any bearing on what we do this year.

Let's have a fun expo!

Hmm... interesting, my account was deleted Sad

Anyhow, I think that Quake2 should be now included... just separate them. In the booth display, don't mix Q1 and Q2 booths, have two separate lists. I also agree with whoever said that Qexpo2006 should be Quake only.

I don't know what you guys are planning for a host but in case you are planning on using the old qexpo site I'm afraid I'm canceling the account. Paying 20 dollars a month for 4+ years for a service I don't use has been a bit much.

I can host it at QuakeDev.com if needed Wink

I could host it at modfiles.org if you'd like.

Horn: Any chance you could pass the entire QExpo archive to someone before the account goes, so we can archive it elsewhere?

Horn: do you mean qexpo.com or condemned? I assume you mean qexpo.com, in which case I wanna shoot myself for paying for the domain for another year if you're giving up in February.

I mean Qexpo. Can't you just transfer the domain to whatever host you'll be using?

I have everything off the qexpo server downloaded (including all the 03 expo's stuff that was on there). I've also exported the MySQL tables from the first expo. I have a 290 rar file of it all that I can upload to condemned for someone to download.
