So, yeah I need a gunmodel that looks somewhat like this:

http://www.mahq.net/mecha/gundam/destiny-astray/lineart/madigan-revolver.jpg

The main exception with what I want is that it would accept an energy cylinder, and the barrel / cylinder part breaks open ala Ronon's gun in Stargate Atlantis.

I need a regular assembled frame, and a frame with the moving parts moved away separately. (plus a skin)

What I will do with this is add the following framegroups:

shoot
reload
melee1
melee2
pullout

I need this in low-poly regular quake .mdl format. (this shouldn't be too much of a problem now that we have a working blender .mdl export) A super low poly / small skin version for putting into a player model would also be nice, but not really required.

Full credit for the model will be given to the person who makes this.

If there aren't any replies to this thread, I'll remove it in a few days time in order to reduce forum clutter.

Thanks it would really help a lot if you could! Very Happy

As for more pics, I dunno if this will help any, but here's some rather crudely drawn plans for what I have in mind. Try not to laugh too hard because it's the first piece of concept art (did I say that? HAH! It's more like grade z doodles...God I suck Crying or Very sad ) I've ever done. Embarassed

Ah sorry, wasn't totally clear on that part.

Something sort of like this:

A real world example:

It basically functions as the end cover part of the gun's proton cylinder holder. Where the hammer would be on this, a small led power level display would be there instead.

Sorry, I'm probably not really describing this very well... Confused

So in short, described, it's half a sphere with a rectangular cube running right down the middle of it.

Hope this helps clarify things. Smile

Sorry i have been busy with other things lately( Mod of the year awards have started over at moddb.)

I still don't under stand how you want to incorporate it into the gun ... By looking at you concept are there is an image that is confusing.

Ok, I made a drawing from what i think you want , i used your picture as a reference.

So Why is the part soo think ?

i think from googlin' his Ronon's gun part i found a picture of what he kind of is suggesting
http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h311/lilyjammer/rononsgun.jpg

i guess he wants it on there for the fancy cool look (or like my link image suggests, a kind of end part to the cell ammunition casing)

kind of a smooth half circle so it makes an O when viewing behind {like if you were holding it}

:S

SamUK: Thought you'd lost interest. Yes, that's how it's supposed to fit together.

MeTchSteekle: Heh, you must have gotten lucky, I'd tried looking EVERYWHERE for something like that. Yes, that's sort of what I want on the backside.

Anyhow, Ceriux pretty much nails the model down perfect, with the exception of the back handle part and the pack holder / cylinder being a bit too long.

Dunno if this will help shed light on things but:

Anyhow, I think Ceriux should continue with his attempt, it's looking pretty good!

i can shorten the length of the area where the cylinder sits, that would be easily done.

Sounds not too bad, the top bar is fine, but should latch onto the top of something like what I posted in that pic up there. the cylinder should be slightly shorter, so as to fit with cylinder cap covering the end.

Hope that description makes sense. Smile

ahh ic, i wasnt thinking you wanted a cylinder cap that the back of the ammunition cell would be exposed for the display. (i thought the display would be right on the ammo cell.)

I see a couple of unnecessary polys ... but an overall good model.
