I think I've noticed that DP can accurately display ammo amounts of up to 999 on the console, instead of being limited to 255. This would really help some of my mods (especially Conquest).
I have a machinegun in Conquest for example that is weak, but has tons and tons of bullets, so the user can pick away at the enemy at his heart's content if he so pleases. However, since I'm limited to 255 ammo max, I have to have the gun take fractions of ammo per shot. This doesn't look good for the player, and it doesn't help the gun's image. It would be cooler if the gun actually had 800 bullets, instead of 200 and 4 shots per bullet.
My question is, do FTE and other engines support this, and how bad would it be if I assumed the user's engine carried this feature? _________________ When my computer inevitably explodes and kills me, my cat inherits everything I own. He may be the only one capable of continuing my work. |

Dunno about FTE and the rest, but that software engine RenegadeC posted about in the engine releases thread had the 255 limit fixed. If I had a guess, it's probably a basic engine upgrade by now.

Amusingly enough, I wanted the Impact Minigun in TROH to be able to have more than just the 250 rounds, so to get around it I'm linking in the ammo pack item (refills bullets) such that if you have it as the currently selected item, and run out of ammo using the impact minigun, it automatically uses the ammo pack. The coolest part about this is that I automatically give an ammo pack when you pick up an impact minigun too.

DP supports it on protocol 6 and upwards, I think...
FTE and ALL QW engines support it.
I don't know about other engines. |
