Nope, changing these will cause all kind of things to behave strange with particles. You want to check out the "die" property of each particle.

idk mh, your way dosent seem to work well on rocket/grenade/lava ball trails, but works unusually well with vore trails and wizad tracers.

and look how the spelt vore:

i even added in spme p->die = cl.time + 5; etc but still nothing
