|
|
A bit of searching turns up no native Quake map editor for mac OS X. I have on for classic (yuck) so I'm wondering if there's a native one I missed or an editor for *nix that'll run under x11.app?
I'm only jumping into this, so if there isn't would I be better off trying QuArK or something on windows? |

You shouldn't touch Quark. But in any case, you're better off asking on func_msgboard _________________ Look out for Twigboy |

That look really promising. Is there an estimated release date or is it just as it goes/when it's done?

A quick google reveals an OS X build. I'll give that a try, see how I fare.
Edit: Erm, does gtkradiant support Quake I?
Thanks a lot for the responses, merry xmas everyone. |

I couldnt get GTKRadient to work for quake 1 on my mac But I do use Quiver 1.2 Its the best you can find right now for mac all though it only runs using os9.
Check it out:
http://developer.chaoticbox.com/quake.php?tab=mactools
It has a built in compiler but its not all that great, so also check out:
http://www.aegidian.org/gqt/osx/index.html
I hope this is helpful.
Also, I am very interested in that editor on wantonhubris! Does anybody know anything about it? Release date maybe? |

I have Quiver right now, and it looks like my only option until that other editor is released.
Are there any tutorials for quiver? Or should I just look for general mapping help?
Edit: Heheh, tutorials included. >_>
Edit #2: Quiver question, when I select build it hands be a .h1, .h2, and .prt. what do I do with these? |

It should erase those files when it is done compiling the map and give you just the bsp and a pts file if your level has leaks.
Get those compiling tools from the other link I gave you. I use them when I am done with the level. But If quiver isnt working correctly, then that is your best bet. |

Well, quiver crashes classic completely when I try to build a map. It's just a map following the first tutorial, so I don't think it's an issue with the map I'm trying to build. |
