Taking another shot here at compiler tool installation for Flash Quake.

Please check out instructions and downloads at http://qbism.com/filemanager, navigate to the flash makaqu folder, and read the txt. The immediate goal is to refine the instructions themselves.

<edit> - ALSO can download just the source, FlashQuakeV2.zip (really should rename some stuff...)

But these are not the steps I used; these are just a tribute.

Thanks to Baker's detailed posts and description of porting steps, I got Flash Quake to compile with a Makaqu port. For various reasons much backtracking occurred. So I can't easily trace the steps from start to end. This was my first Flash project, not the best choice in retrospect.

Focus is on documentation of the build tool installation and compiling process. So, of course, compiled binaries are not included. Twisted Evil

BONUS: Also included in the alchemy zip is a VC++ Express 2008 makaqu project.

Was searching for what Makaqu was and it turns out it's the enhanced port to the Dreamcast or something ;D Looks really impressive.

I found this game that was using the engine, it looks crazy good, graphicswise and gameplay wise, for the Quake engine, the last thing I would have said if I looked at it.

Somebody should contact the author and have him compile it into Flash Quake. Hell, no mouse controls here.

That really pushes the software engine! Fightoon is (or was) by the author of Makaqu. http://indiedreams.wikia.com/wiki/Fightoon

BTW, my windows build of makaqu.exe using Express 2008 is now uploaded to http://qbism.com/filemanager. Or get the original here: http://quakedev.dcemulation.org/fragger

Looking at the Makaqu 1.2 source, some of the effects in that video are partially coded as EF_SHADOW and EF_CELSHADING.

Well, turns out there's a Makaqu 1.3!

The original post was in 2005, but the final release was 2008.
