Ok so what do you consider essential for quake? for me I have to have the mission packs, and more. I was just wondering what you guys keep in your quake folders? ok, yes i am bored out of my skull. I also want to update my backup of quake. Cause Quake deserves a 2 gig+ backup. my 700mb just aint cutting it.
Hipnotic
Rogue
Quake Done Quick, SDS, QD 100% Q, QDQ: With A Vengeance
Malice
X-Men: The Ravages of Apocalypse
Prodigy: Special Edition
levels by Iikka "Fingers" Keranen
(I use to have a huge level collection, lost long ago)
both official mission packs and id1 vissed for transparent water
enhanced textures
colored lighting
and enhanced 3d models for some objects |

- Prydon Gate
- Airquake (with all maps) and maybe with my hacks (but needs a old 'Teiq' engine)
- Quake1Arena. I have a really fun version. Much more fun than the original game.
- Vile (a minimod)
- a Wazat deathmac mod (if you plan lan games)
- a CheapAlert deathmach mod (to laugh with friends)
- a combo mod (SuperDuperQuake, or other)
- Painkeep
- TeamFortress (needs a QW engine)
- Defeat in Detail
etc..
You can add a pile of good maps from the func_messageboard guys. CZG, etc...
Of course, Telejano. Fit my need, has my config builtin "bindefault tei" command

Adding some off the top of my head:
Mods
Wazat's Jeht mod
Wazat's Battlemech mod
Nehahra and Tim Elek's fourth episode
DPmod, more games need DM7 mode :)
Quake Rally
Rocket Arena
Slide
Coffee's TF bots
LTH's Cyberquake
LTH's Tanx2 (I'm still working on my map for it..)
Engines
Darkplaces
Spike's FTEQW
(Get KGB|romi's rtlights too, meant for DP but I think FTE has support as well - http://www.kgbsyndicate.com/romi/)
For maps you can go to http://maps.quakeworld.nu/ - they've left out any docs but you kind find pretty much all of the classic and hard to find maps there, ukpak, plpak et al.
Let me know if you need links to any of those, and I hope that helps. :) |

You'll also want:
Zerstorer
SMLevels
Beyond Belief
E-5
OUM
And some single levels, like "The Darkness Diabolical" and "The Soul Grinder", among others. _________________ "Roboto suggests Plasma Bazooka." |

My most wanted list:
- AirQuake with some maps by me.
- Prydon Gate with some maps by me.
- Team Fortress bots with some mapp0rs made by me
- FrikBot, maybe on one of my terrible DM maps...
- Starship Troopers: Tactical Defence, definitely on one of the maps not made by me.
- DiD2
I'm a raging egotist
Quake stuff I havn't contributed to but which I admit are leet despite the lack of Harbishing:
- Quess
- Darkplaces Engine
- Enhanced Quake Textures
- Qrally
- Rail Arena bots, made by Mauve OR Jballou... YOU DECIDE!
- Minion Arena
- FuhQuake Engine
Honourable mentions:
- Alien Quake
- The retro CenterPrint mod collection
I've got more, but those'll do for now. _________________ ><)))'>

/me blushes
my list:
Darkplaces
Prydon Gate
Snowed & Arcade from FrikaC (I still show those off to friends)
Various SP and DM maps, which I still haven't taken the time to copy to my laptop... (efdm series, ikka, many others).
Frikbot - always useful for mods
AirQuake
Rogue (Mpack 2)
Nehahra
Quake QC 1.06 src
And I know I'm forgetting everything else... _________________ When my computer inevitably explodes and kills me, my cat inherits everything I own. He may be the only one capable of continuing my work. |

Wazat mentioned something, something I found interesting that no one else seemed to list.
Quake
DarkPlaces
FTEqw
FuhQuake
QC106src
FTEqcc
Frikqcc
I mod Quake 9 times of 10, rather than play it, so that's absolutely part of my Quake Essentials.
Otherwise, I really like these, in no particular order:
Mission Packs
Prydon Gate (there's some groovy stuff cooking behind the scenes, Frik make sure to co-release new stuff with Harb)
Nehahra (both movie and game)
Various Quake movies (* done quick ones especially)
DPMod (for awesome DM7 action and groovy QC to stea... er... yeh)
Teamfortress and Coffees bots
Painkeep
Zerstörer
DMSP
FiendHunter 0.64
Omicron Bots
I actually like a lot more Quake related things but got bored of writing, or something... _________________ Look out for Twigboy

I forgot Frikqcc.
Yea, I learned the hard way never to forget to bring along the QC source.
Also you listed "Quake". Yea, bringing along the ID1 folder & executable (DP is mine) is essential too. I've actually forgotten that in the past. _________________ When my computer inevitably explodes and kills me, my cat inherits everything I own. My selection, not including any of my own of course, and in no set order... <deep breath>
QMe
TQ148
Telejano
Darkplaces
TAoV
The Demon King (Am I the only guy who thought this totally rocked?)
SST:TD
QRally (If only there were some decent bots for it)
Minion Arena
Prydon Gate
Malice
FBX
Zerstorer
The Badlands maps (The author made them in a text editor, yet they were by far the most sophisticated and original SP maps of their day)
Grass
Hurried Descent
KQP (for back-in-the-day lan-party mania)
AirQuake
There are loads and loads more but I have to stop somewhere. _________________ Apathy Now! |

Damn I forgot the Badlands maps, the only custom SP maps that have consistantly in my /id1/maps since 1998...
Had some VERY advanced techniques both architecturally and gameplay-wise for their day. _________________ ><)))'> |
