I've recently acquired Slipgate Construct.com for use as a wiki host site for the community. If anyone would like a hosted site, please either talk to me on IRC or send me a private message on here.

All the quirks of hosting are available, php5, cgi, perl, blahblahblah, mysql databases, etc.

I can currently offer 5-10gb of webspace for hosted sites.

No illegal stuff... as I will instantly delete your site. Any sort of "adult" content should be linked by a disclaimer. Nothing graphically adult. Laughing

Well, that's great! I wish I could offer hosting but I have neither the time, nor the space available. Hopefully, we'll see more modders willing to build a support site for their mods, or textures, or utilities, or whatever.

Quake community is growing.

Excellent! Could the Quake Wiki be moved there? Echon is pretty much unavailable and I find it very important that the host is active and available. I am still sitting on the rather useless quakewiki.org too.

It's a shame the Quake Wiki is in such a desolate state (i.e. hardly existing), especially compared to other games' wikis. I think it might not be a bad idea to integrate the existing articles into the one at wikia.com. Many successful and extensive game wikis are hosted there, like Doom's. This would make it easier to find (how many incomplete "Quake wikis" or corresponding domains are there now, four?), potentially attract more people to work on articles, and be more complete by providing a platform for all four Quake games. At least in theory.

I once considered writing a few mapping-related articles, at least one about id1 hacks, but it feels like there's no real incentive. Not the right attitude, I know... There are too few people left who care.

If you're going to make Yet Another Quake Wiki, you should at least merge all of these wiki's together.

There's probably a few more I don't know about.

One wiki is enough. When I bought the domain quakewiki.net I thought of creating the PlanetQuake archives. I did not planned to create a real wiki, as time is something I don't have right now.

My projects are now the PQ archives and the mods repository. It's unfortunate that the name is confusing, but I'm willing to trade the domain with another one, Quake related also.

I'm not talking about A single Quake wiki. There are/have been many of those. I'm talking about for the more elaborate projects. I'm already talking to LordHavoc about an official Darkplaces wiki being hosted on there, as I'm a large supporter of his work. It seems as though he's given me an OK for the wiki already.

Also, this isn't ONLY for wiki's. Sorry if my first post was misleading. If you have a quite promising project that you'd want hosted, let me know. I'd be more than glad to host it.

That'd be cool.

A FitzQuake wiki ?? Both these projects have iffy documentation.
But the real clincher is - who's going to write and update them. Not me ;->

[edit] I take it back Metl... Just a little overwhelming

Well, I'm ready to contribute on the DarkPlaces wiki. I learned a few QC stuff ever since starting working on my current mod.
