What's the recommended system requirements to run DP with all that perfect graphics (RT world, dlights, etc)?
I just tried here with 640x480x32 with my 128mb card. It's slow like hell. Even with almost minimum graphics it's a bit slow (<50 fps).
Do I need a 1gb video card?
Also, my CPU is an AMD Duron 1.8ghz, and has 768mb RAM. _________________ There's no signature here. Stop looking for one. |

On my 1.4ghz amd with 512 ram and a gf4ti4200 it runs fine at 1024x768x32 with realtime dlights, normal lighting otherwise, sometimes a tiny bit of bloom... By fine I mean over 50 fps unless the map is just crazy detailed or theres lots of dlights |

If you are using something that isn't the latest, type r_glsl 0 in the console.
On some video cards like my GeForce 5200fx, it makes a massive difference.
/I've hear the reason is that my card doesn't support OpenGl 2 shaders or something. |

Yeah its a GeForce fx 5200.
So my card is a bit outdated, right?
EDIT: Just tried r_glsl 0, it worked perfectly!
I'm now getting between 60 and 120 fps with just RT dlights on, I'll check out other stuff now. _________________ There's no signature here. Stop looking for one. |

More so your card is a weird one. My older card doesn't have that problem. Try the glsl bit and that should help. |

axp 3200, gf6800/x800, is what you at least need to enjoy dp with all the bells and whistles on at the minimum at a great framerate.
People still use that crappy fx5200 card in 2008? ick. _________________

gfx card is meat and balls on this it doesnt have to be anything spectacular tho an ati x1900xt 256 mb works just fine
even my old gf 6600GT handled it quite good with 40 fps if you had rtlights for the map. cpu wise it doesnt really matter if its from the newer p4 series or even AMD's 64 bitters |

glsl helped VERY MUCH!!
I tried using rt world, I got 5 fps, then I tried with rt dlights, rt dlight shadows, high particle quality and decals on.
It runs fine with these configs, but it crashed after a few minutes!
Turned off decals, same crash happened, but after a longer time.
And independing of the configs, when I turn on chase camera it chashes too.
I receive an error that the memory can't be read or written. _________________ There's no signature here. Stop looking for one. |

No, xp sp2.
People said me vista has a lot of bugs yet, so I'll wait a couple more time to get it. =P And, vista eats too much memory, I should first upgrade my pc.
Although amd pcs are slower than intel, amd pcs are easier and cheaper to upgrade, and intel pcs the parts are expensive and it's hard to find. But the advantage is that a 1.6ghz intel is as fast as a 2.5ghz amd.
@Topic:
I didn't get the crashes anymore, I think it crashes when I turn on chase camera or turn on rt world dlight shadows. _________________ There's no signature here. Stop looking for one. |

actually it's the versa, i.e. 2ghz axp as fast as a 3.2ghz p4
Just FYI, I get the crashes the same way too so it's not just your video card. I use AMD, XP and ATI. _________________

This desktop predates those fancy new PCI express slots by about 1 year. The card I have is actually the best one I could buy for the standard PCI slot, all of the rest required PCIe.
So anyone with PCI, GeForce 5200fx is pretty much the limit. |
