I'm sorry but isn't it basically a browser form of Quake 3 with rankings?

If so, then I've played it. I do enjoy Quake 3 every once in a while, but not my cup of tea.

Uh, actually QuakeLive is full of casual players, newbies and bad players like me. It is great fun. More fun than I ever had with Quake 3 online because of the nice match finding and countless players. Haven't played for some weeks though as I ditched Windows and wait for the Linux port.
My nick is Schbirid if I recall correctly.

full of casual players,

yeah well, there's still vertex light, 'intensity' and allowing of picmip beyond 3, both which are haven for visually exploiting 'pros'.

"Pro Players" are a rapidly diminishing group anyway. The game is solid and brings back some good Q3 memories. I haven't had much time to play it lately though.
