Hi guys, it's been a while since I last posted here. What's up guys?
I've been following the board occasionally and I see that people are working on some fine mods. Anyway, I want to ask for a favor, I'm working on a simple Q2 mod (yes, I have forsaken thee) just for fun and I want to use the Q1 torch in it, but I'm having trouble converting the .mdl to md2. For some reason Quark chokes on the model when I try to convert it.
Actually, any torch would be great since redistributing Quake models is of course breaking copyright laws (I don't think the mod will be released publically, but you never know). So if anyone could direct me to an original .md2 torch model that would be even better.
Thank you, and have a nice day... _________________ Forum lurker |

QuArK 6 chokes on md2 saving, while QuArK 5 does not. Use QuArK 5 for mdl -> md2 conversions.
As for torches... how bout that lamp in Open Quartz P _________________

I've checked that model out, but it isn't quite what I had in mind. Thanks anyway, especially for the heads up about Quark 6. _________________ Forum lurker |

For now I've converted the Q1 walltorch and it works like a charm, I even got it to animate which is a big deal coming from me.
This Q2 modmaking isn't half bad, I might start to like it.
If even I can mod this game, then how hard can it be?
Of course my modifications are pretty (very) simple, I'm still impressed with myself that I could add all this stuff.
Here's a screeny from the mod so far, some of you might recognize it from the past (yes, I've stolen someone else's mod and ported it to another engine. Please don't sue me) _________________ Forum lurker |

I've made a new walltorch if you want it. It's mdl tho. _________________ Apathy Now! |

Hurried Ascent Q2? Awesome.
Glad you got the torch working. Be sure to get a booth for QExpo! _________________ When my computer inevitably explodes and kills me, my cat inherits everything I own. He may be the only one capable of continuing my work. |

Sure, that would be great. I can convert from .mdl now, downloading Quark 5 did indeed help.

Thanks, I'm trying to add a few features Akuma's original version didn't have, like storing the best times in a file. So far the game keeps track of the time you took to get down (which was also in my edited never released Q1 version of HD that I did years ago) and centerprints it when you finish.
I'm going all out on this one, I even want to show the current time on the hud and everything. We'll see how much of this stuff I can pull off.
It's good getting into modding again, haven't done so for a good many months, even if it is for Q2. I remember saying once I'd never mod for anything but Q1. Well, so much for principles. _________________ Forum lurker |
