My wishes to Quake1 for this new year 2007:

- May some mods come out. I don't really care if they're total conversions or mini-mods, it would just be fun to see some things released. I don't know if any QExpo is planned for this year (I have the feeling that it's not), but, in any case, I miss the time when someone would just pop in the forums and go, "hey, look, I' m releasing something new!"
- May the idea of a "free Quake" bear fruit and may it not have gargoyles in it. Personally, I do think making Quake available to all is a question of survival of the community, but then I do hope it's gonna offer what modern gamers expect from it, that it's not going to be some souped-up texture and model pack. I think a lot of time should be spent on the menu, how to make it particularly mod-friendly, efficient and visually attractive.
- May there be more speedmodding sessions and may the speedmopping session eventually see the light.

Hehe... It'll be nice to have someone bump this thread at the end of the year and see what was achieved Smile
Personally, it's my goal to release at least one new mod this year.

Note: what's so bad about calling it Quake1? Does it make it a less good game? Or do some people just enjoy confusing others for whom the term "Quake", let's admit, usually refers to the latest version of it, Quake3 at one point, Quake4 today?

Because all newbies call it that. Leave the Quake1 calling to that niche crowd.

Quake does not have a number. If you want to call it Quake1, then call it "The first Quake game". Givng it a number is insulting imo.

As if the game cares about it. Well, let's be elitist pricks and insult people who call "our" game not as we want it to be called. By the way, even John Romero calls it Quake 1 from time to time. Weird, eh?

I prefer Quake v1.x, but I don't want to hug the tarbaby of getting into that conversation.

On a more on topic note, I'd love to get Quaded finished, and do a mini-mod or something.

- Free/Open Source Quake (like OpenQuartz, only cool)
- Some more exposure for the community, and a bunch of new people in the community that actually want to be here (i.e. not HL2 fanboyz)
- Maybe I could learn to model a little this year. Hmm.... Rolling Eyes
