As I said, don't hold your breath. It may even happen, but not in a foreseeable future. _________________ frag.machine - Q2K4 Project

In a Bethesda-Zenimax future, one can not be so certain. _________________

Wrong question. You should first be pondering when the current licenses of the idtech5 will expire. And after that, you should ask yourself if Zenimax/Bethesda are commited to support the OSS community in the same way id used to do. _________________ frag.machine - Q2K4 Project

not even 2001 is the foreseeable future.
my god its full of brown.
anyway, 2011 is probably about two years away. A lot can happen in two years, like the time between the release of fallout and fallout2. _________________ What's a signature? |

Ummmm - idtech 5 is actually the Rage engine you realise...
OK, I get that we're now talking about idtech 4 (Doom 3) and whether or not a GPL release is now going to happen. Aside from the Zenimax thing (to which I would say "hold off on being paranoid there until you actually get some info, folks") there's also the matter of Creative's patent on the z-fail shadow volume technique to be worked around. _________________ DirectQ Engine - New release 1.8.666a, 9th August 2010
