There's a scalability problem in some versions of phpBB where if a thread goes over about 1000 posts it causes havoc for the rest of the board. In all fairness I haven't this happen on I3D but I have elsewhere. _________________ DirectQ Engine - New release 1.8.666a, 9th August 2010

Just a pondering thought... or maybe a "floundering" thought...
I too, don't see a problem here... this is my favorite thread! However, to lighten the load here, how about creating a "Projects" forum? Someone could Announce/post what they are working on here then create a separate thread for their project in the "Projects" forum? _________________ Good God! You shot my leg off! |

I like this thread better tbh, because you have everything in the same place... without much clicking. Nice overall status record of the quake/quake-related scene, at least part of it. _________________ ReMakeQuake

creating new topic = shameless self promotion.
posting here = making conversation :) _________________ What's a signature? |

There's a phpbb at another site I visit, which has a copyright line of ©2001 instead of ©2004 so I assume it's an older version, and there's a thread with 20,000 posts, without a problem. I really doubt that this version will somehow break with too many posts. (And from a PHP programmer's perspective, how could you possibly write forum thread code that broke with too many but less than a zillion posts, unless you deliberately coded it to?) _________________ F. Good Point!

Sometimes I like being shameless... keeps me balanced!
So, I've been working on polishing up the look of QCPad. Trying to make it look darkish yet professional. Still have lots of coding to do.
