Here's a few pretty similar texture packs in case you get tired of making your own Smile

Uh, I'd rather see him make his own, even if they're similar. Free assets will only kill creativity in mod/game communities

I like looking at other people's textures. Usually it will give me ideas. I've already bookmarked the wadfather page and looked through some interesting texture packs.

If I get tired in making my own textures, then I'll just use some old textures I've made. I got some 500 textures (in about 50 texture sets) done already, which have been done for some projects that didn't go anywhere but most of them for my first more successful project.

I intend to draw new stuff.

I got tired of drawing my own textures afterall.. So I made some other stuff...

like one model:
http://koti.mbnet.fi/jeejeeje/wip/insectoid_wip_01.jpg

and some Cthulhu mythology inspired monster sketches:
http://koti.mbnet.fi/jeejeeje/wip/monster_collage.jpg

Other stuff worth mentioning.. I think this project is going more backwards than forwards. This would be a good thing, if this project was about time travel. Too bad it isn't... Actually I'm thinking of having a complete change in the direction of what's in it. Whatever it will be, I'll be modeling these monsters in the monster_collage.jpg and some others... and hopefully have them all in.

Upper right corner monster in the sketches looks a lot like the StarCraft hydralisk...

The hydralisk had more of a face, so it made me think more of the Alien queen or something. Neat stuff though, hope you settle with something, so we can finally get to play this sucker

This is a long post about that insect model. It was known as insectoid, but that name doesn't fit so well, sounds more like some humanoid insect hybrid. So it got a name: Dyslexicreantis.

Here's two renders of it:
Healthy
Damaged & Dead

It's been animated too:

Basic stuff:
Preview 01, XviD AVI
Preview 01, WMV
Preview 01, GIF
Animation list:
Idle
Walk (2 times)
Run/Jump (2 times)
Get Down (will be "Get Up" when played backwards)
Crouched Idle
Crouched Walk (2 times)

Attacks:
Preview 02, XviD AVI
Preview 02, WMV
Preview 02, GIF
Animation list:
Right Arm Attack
Left Arm Attack
Both Arms Attack
Acid Spit Attack
Jump Attack
Crouched Right Arm Attack
Crouched Left Arm Attack
Crouched Both Arms Attack
Crouched Acid Spit Attack

Pain:
Preview 03, XviD AVI
Preview 03, WMV
Preview 03, GIF
Animation list:
Minor Pain A
Minor Pain B
Major Pain A
Major Pain B
Crouched Minor Pain
Crouched Major Pain

It's dead!
Preview 04, XviD AVI
Preview 04, WMV
Preview 04, GIF
Animation list:
Death A
Death B
Death C
Death D
Crouched Death A
Crouched Death B

And cut in half:
Preview 05, XviD AVI
Preview 05, WMV
Preview 05, GIF
Animation list:
Idle
Crawl
Left Arm Attack
Right Arm Attack
Pain
Death

Here's some possible sounds for it: coma_all.mp3 They were originally for a creature named Comapred that was one monster in my old project, but then for some unknown reasons, I decided the sounds needed to change when the model changed.

The sounds are made some 5-7 years ago from me eating Tyrkisk Pebers and fiddle around the plastic bag they were in after I had eaten them all... I'm thinking I'll record some similar sounds some time again.

Mmm.. Next I'm probably going to model what's in my avatar.

Hey, those animations aren't half bad. Some of the ones in the first sample seem a little lacking in weight or momentum (kind of floaty looking, with no real fast movements), but all in all they're very impressive. Together with the sound effects, it sounds like we have some kind of cross between a zergling and a praying mantis!

It's also rather impressive that you put all this preview stuff together Razz

I should probably do a render of the animations..

The floatyness has been removed, I made it wave like this if you look from the front: "/¯\_/¯\_/¯\_/¯\_" depending on which leg is touching the floor, which makes front half and back half move in different phases...

The run/jump animation has been offsetted differently, the first frame was originally somewhere in the middle of the jump, but now the first frame is when it's about to jump, just like the jump attack sequence.

edit:
I started modeling me:

That drawing of you looks like an evil Christian Bale - and by that I mean the mildly pissed off Christian Bale, because that guy has got a cold stare.

Hah! Now we know what you look like! This should go over well in the mustache thread....

I've cut off my moustache though... but I think it should have a small bit of that, since it keeps growing back...

It seems like I can't do rectangular faces. Earlier I had no troubles, every face I did was rectangular, even it was meant to be round.

Well... people are ugly. If I invented a beauty ray, I would shoot it at everyone. Right now I can't even look straight... Laughing

I got busy again on this project and added the insects in together with some new weapon system and recorded a video... Changed the project name into Cold Reality Heat.

The new weapon system works like this:
There's two attack buttons, one for left arm and another for right arm. Both arms can have whatever weapon the player wants to have, if the weapon can be used single handedly (currently I don't have any two handed weapons in). The weapons can fire simultaneously or only use one of them.

Selecting the weapons is still quite like press the number keys to select a weapon, but there's one additional key: the weapon change arm key. It changes the arm in which the new weapon will be selected.

Originally I wanted a menu/inventory screen, but right now I don't have time to do that. Because I need to have something ready for release on next thursday. Huh!

Here's the video @ YouTube: Cold Reality Heat: Misrealer & Weapon Test

This is something I need to have ready at next thursday too... I need to make DVD case cover for this game. Here's the front side. It's not complete and may change into some "processed" screenshot(s) of the game...
