There should be a note somewhere which says what license the tutorials have. One would assume it's a fairly liberal license (thanks SavageX, for the term), but I'd like to know if it's possible to convert to GPL, as I use some code from a couple of tutorials in a mod of mine, which I'd really like to skip rewriting...

Wouldn't they just be public domain?

If it doesn't say then technically they're not public domain. The Copyright is automatic, and unless made explicitly made public domain it is not GPLable.

I think it depends if you're american or not... Or if they are... Or something. International law sucks. Everyone should move to China.

But yeah, Urre is correct, they should be explicitly stated as Public Domain, GPL, LGPL, or perhaps FDL, unless stated otherwise in the body of the tutorial.

Language like this was included at the bottom of every page, prior to the redesign:

All tutorials and article are copyright the Inside3D Team and their original authors. Permission is granted to use them in any freely available work, etc etc.

I'll just assume it's safe to GPL them, then...

Im not 100% if this matters, but werent those tutorials released under the FDL license? If so, you could use them in virtualy any licensed project? (or would that be redistribution of the "document"?)
