Galcon:
http://happypenguin.org/show?Galcon#comments

Need:
- Planet model with a few skins (red, blue, gray, etc)
- Huge map withouth walls, but with space skybox
- Ships models

Ideas:
- Instead of use zillions ships, use big ships as equal to tons of ships: a mothership= 10 normal ships, a worldship = 10 motherships, a gigaship = 10 mothership, a megatransport=10 gigaship
- Use centerprinting for some auxiliar messages "planetname is under attack!"
- Use health for the no of ships, use shield for the no of planets
- Centerprint the name of planet selected "\n\n\n\nDune:"+noOfShips

I think a basic AI bot is doable, but this game as to work better on multiplayer.

Simple enhancements to make it fun:
- Make so you can assign groups on planets "group red", "group blue", "group X", so you can send attacks from several planets at once.
- Use Darkplaces clientside prydongate-ish click to select?

Sounds fun!
The Wadfather (http://wadfather.planethalflife.gamespy.com/new/) has quite a few nice space skyboxes, free to use.

Now that I look at it. It dont really need a huge room.
Even the original game fit on a single screen withouth scrolling.
Having big planets not soo far mean a area like the bridge outdoor in e1m1 is enough.

I feel like a idiot, because I have wasted 2 hours of my sparce time hunting a particular texture on my Hard Disk. My own rosebud..
