It's a massive loss to the whole engine coding community. Just in terms of sheer volume of content, and having a site dedicated to coding for exchange of ideas/etc. And it would go just as I was starting to finally get a new engine up and running too.
There's also a desperate need for something to pick up it's original remit as a "Quake Standards Group" - one thing that's seriously been missing for a long time, and which (IMHO) is one reason why custom engines can be so unfriendly to modders/mappers/players. |

Can we get a dump/backup from ender or whoever so we can pick out the goodies? _________________ F. A. Špork, an enlightened nobleman and a great patron of art, had a stately Baroque spa complex built on the banks of the River Labe. |

The tutorials section lives at archive.org. Nothing lost.
http://web.archive.org/web/20060413210651/www.quakesrc.org/tutorials/old
However, archive.org didn't capture the forums so every tutorial posted in the forums and of course all the forum content would seem to be lost forever. |

It is a shame that it doesn't appear to be coming back.
I get the sense people don't want to go to quakedev.com, but where should people go to ask questions and answer them? |

not sure... could ask around for hosting a new site somewhere
but would need someone dedicated to administering it as my skills in html are to say the least lacking a bit.
saving what i can atm from the old site with bits and pieces together we might be able to make a new home for qsg
and thx for the link to the tutorials |

It's funny how many of you ended up here. Is it because a google search for quakesrc led to this thread, or some other reason, like how much we rock or something?
I feel sorry for QuakeDev (for no one wanting to make it their new home), and for the apparent loss of the Quake Wiki. I'm pretty sure there are people who have made backups of the wiki before, it'd be great if those could upload it somewhere, so we can start working on building a new wiki. I'm totally up for it (for once) _________________ Look out for Twigboy |

That wiki was not even half moved over. I kind of gave up on it. _________________ F. A. Špork, an enlightened nobleman and a great patron of art, had a stately Baroque spa complex built on the banks of the River Labe. |

I would actually gladly start going to QuakeDev. It's foolish to let such a well-suited resource go to waste. _________________ http://quake2world.net |

Not dedicated. It's nothing more than a SMF forum and a simple news portal just to blast echongl all over the place. _________________
