(I'm quoting from the other thread here...)

I don't consider MauveBib getting interviewed on PQ a small amount of coverage...

My contention is that most of the time, most will be rather snobbish, and turn their noses up without even considering actually trying a quake mod. For no reason but the percieved age of our game. Don't try to tell me that there aren't people out there that laugh at us simply because we mod for a game that in their eyes is an old tired fossil, because I've seen them, and talked with them myself.

I had that from the rest of the UFT dev team when I told them that I was turning my attention to Q1, and letting them take UFT onwards from Q3 to Q4.

Quote:
Just remember, if you do this, there will be no going back if it goes horribly wrong. And those of you who do this and support this WILL be remembered in the history books. Remembered Unfavorably. Those of us who didn't sell out will point and laugh every time you walk by.

I for one will not be here to see it, one way or the other, as I will be wherever Mauvebib and the others are. Why? Because I do not want to see the place where I myself grew up in the Quake Community be leveled, torn down, to make way for the hollow soulless neon idols of the false gods of the "modern" gaming industry to be erected in it's place.

The Q1 modding scene is fucking hot right now. The QExpo opened my eyes to where the real innovation is happening. Don't let the innovation die...

Dr. Shadowborg, you won't be the only one who will be following this community, wherever it has to go...

As for this poll, we already have numerous places covering QW, or NQ and QW combined, so lets keep this place just for us.

I was under the impression that we were already open to QuakeWorld modding here...

qw modding is different, since your audience are picky "professionals" who will recolor your art to simple colors to help them gain advantage anyway. They're not the kind of audience who would appreciate innovation.

eh, its still playing Quake maps with Quake gameplay
its all in whether or not you feel your multiplayer mod calls for QuakeWorld netcode or whatnot.

I voted for 1 / World / 2, cause that's what it was.... minus the Jedi Knight Razz

yes, we even hosted a Quake 2 mod.

As shown by our last QExpo, the Quake 2 community does NO harm what so ever to ours. QuakeWorld has always been welcome here as , yes, it IS the same game... just different netcode.

OK then, I'll back down on what I said about keeping out QW.

But I think that the focus needs to remain on modding, and not playing.

The mapping community already has a playground (func_msgboard), and the players have a fair few more, so lets keep this place just for us. Wink

I vote 1 / World.

I like Quake a bit more than QW since QW can be evil at times, however I've made kick ass mods for both so they get my vote.

2 sucked
3 sucked
4 I haven't played.
