scar3crow: For me there's no need to resize it, but if you really want to do that, go ahead.
I think we can have 2 official sizes for the maps then. scr2.bsp size is for more than 5-6 player per team, as soccer.bsp size is for less than 6.
I didn't like soccer.bsp because its goals were too low on height. The goal being tall minimizes the problem.
Then I decided to make scr2.bsp which is a soccer field with the official scale. Official soccer fields have between 90 to 110 meters of length, and 45 to 55 meters of width.
Just convert all that to Quake Units, which represent about 3.81 centimeters, according to feh on mirc, lol.
But I just figured out that scr2.bsp field size is a little above than an official field size!
Because 3104*3.81 = 11826.24 centimeters, which are 118 meters (rounded). Its width is 59 meters (also rounded).
But it's still nice.
EDIT: 118x59 meters = 393x197 feet or 130x65 yards. Dunno on what imperial unit a soccer field is measured. As I'm from Brazil, we use metric units. |

Quake units (and the units in all id games since wolf3d) are 1.5 inches (the Q3 shader manual states it as 8 units = 1 foot), hence they are indeed 3.81 cm. _________________ Apathy Now! |

Actually, three (if you take in account that portuguese spoken in Brazil is different from what's spoken in Portugal - for example, "arquivo", "ficheiro" and "file" means the same thing). _________________ frag.machine - Q2K4 Project

Is there any basic .map files available? I noticed I couldn't find the source in the latest soccer3.zip. I won't be able to map for it for the speedmapping event, unfortunately, but I'd like to give it a go eventually, once I'm done with exams (in a little more than 2 weeks) _________________ http://www.planetcocot.net/ |

Been playing the new mod for ours now and it's quite fun!
A few things though. Would be nice to be able to set a score limit and be able to change the map.
The goalkeepers get stuck on walls. Often.
I tried creating an indoor arena without an out of bounds area because when the ball goes out of bounds it ports back to the center and this can be exploited against the bots. With the game field up against the boundaries the bots get stuck on the walls.
Maybe set a respawn timer on the ball after the goal is scored. |
