it won't boot, or actually it's acting like it's booting, but no signal is going to my monitor. This happened before, but then started working again quickly afterwards. I tried switching monitors, and the same thing keeps happening. My computer froze last night while talking on IRC and this happened. The other time, I was in the middle of a Prydon Gate game and it happened.
is my video card dead?
I sure hope not.
I may not be in IRC for a while or online too often on AIM or anything, just so you know |

Try dissasembling your pc and putting it back together again... ie: pulling out the vid card and putting it back in... this'll clean the contacts and maybe help out. _________________ ><)))'> |

It could be your video card, then again it also could be your motherboard. I've had a k6 500 die on me the same way (was left frozen at the login screen, a reboot ends up a black screen, put the cpu on a diff motherboard and that killed that mobo too, must be cursed) _________________

You may follow something like this (if the problem its fixed, not continue the list):
0) Its everything well connected? all PCI cards firmly stuck?
1) try different monitor
2) try different video card
3) try with only 1 memory slot use
4) try withouth HD, floppy, CD, DVD
5) Your CPU or your motherboard its damage
6) try with other CPU
7) Your motherboard its damage
replace motherboard
9) mount everything
10) play |

You might have a fan on the blink?
Take the case off, and if it does it again make sure all your fans are still going round. |
