Alright, not that I would want to try to code that myself (I definitely don't have the skills), but I was just wondering... (and if this makes someone want to code this, then great!)
Would the current state of what we have available make it possible to emulate some kind of golf game in Quake1? I mean, I'm not very familiar with the subtleties of Gyro physics, but thinking about some of its features and thinking about terrain generators like Entar's or Genesurf (but then I believe we'd have to use Q3 map format) and how they can be used in Quake, I thought it could be cool (and super easy to map for (which, as some of you probably noticed, has been one of my obsessions lately)). Could a ball model react to slopes of a terrain adequately? I mean, we could always imagine a flat terrain, but that'd be kind of boring... Wink
Could this be fun?

Prior to Quake, I have made a golf game for the C64, in text-mode.

My experience is that golf games are a very rewarding experience to code. Even if the results are poor tecnically.

So, yes, even with bad code is posible to make a *fun* golf game for quake. Quake h_head as the ball.

Just make it more cartoon alike If the physics are bad, and more real-ish if the physics are good.

And Is a game that can be easyly make multiplayer.

Wouldn't this require a huge outdoor map? Maybe sticking with mini-putt would be a better idea :p

I vote for putt putt, trying to nudge the ball past the leaping fiends, or getting it to roll into a shambler's mouth!

I vote putt putt too.

But.. hee!, a big map is feasible, so.. why not?

Funny, my imagination was totally going more into the direction of a realistic golf game or, you know, semi-realistic, with nice terrain, trees, roman pillars, ponds and stuff... but then again, it's not like I'm going to code this or anything, I just wanted to have some dicussion going Smile
So, well, obviously, if someone coded this, putt-putt-type golf would appeal to most Wink ... now, of course, we could turn this into a speed-thingy and challenge everyone here to post a couple of screenshots of a possible early version of that mod but, mmm, maybe that'd be too easy... Crying or Very sad
