Welcome to the Headquarters for the Coalition for Team Fortress Classic Reform

Basically, at this point, this is a no-frills, bare-bones place to collect and debate existing problems in TFC/TF 1.5, and give both Valve and the TF community a single convenient place to see a listing of open issues, and hopefully so Valve can get them fixed. This game is going to be with us for a while - before the release of TF2 - so we need to try to make it the best it possibly can be, for us, the TF community.

Ok, I'm here. What do I do now?

1. Read A Little Background On Why We're Doing This

2. Check The News For The Latest Report.

3. List Of Fixed Issues

5. Tell Me How I Can Help With This Cause

6. Send In Feedback/Suggestions/Bugs!

Timeline, or what Hog and Tot did with the page on this day in TF history...

Now is as good of time as any to mention that even though the site doesn't always get updated, the bug reports are still being sent to Valve, and we are actively emailing. So, as always send in reports of bugs and cheats.

With that news, I'd also like to note that I've put up the latest report (less the "how-to" parts of the descriptions) I'll be sending to Valve. If something is missing, let us know. Thanks.

Were still kicking things around here at the TFC-Reform. Thanks to everyone sending in the various bug reports. The bugs I added today are: NailGrenade/Thin Walls (Thanks PainKilleR), The Entities Cheat (Thanks Slimbo), Long Detpack/Door Block (thanks to multiple people), and The Spy/Skin/Model bug (thanks to multiple people). The latter two are already fixed and should be able to be patched via server side (I'm told).

So, look over the lists. Did we still manage to mis something? Keep sending in those reports!

Tuesday, April 3rd, 2001 2109Z - The Warthog
Eric Smith has gone over the current_items list and let us know what exactly was fixed in the 1.1.0.6 patch (for various reasons, it's not always listed in the update readme). So I've moved those items over to the fixed_items list, and if your a real stickler, you can double check those yourself. -- An autographed lollypop from myself if you find one that's still active :)

New bugs/cheats? Send them in and we'll put them up on the list as well as do our usual thing with Valve.

Over and out.

Tot and I are working on restarting the bug lists now that the 1.1.0.6 patch has come out. You can help us by going over the current_items list and the newly created fixed_items list and if you were able to preform a bug before, and can or cannot now, let us know what you found out. Thanks!

Okie dokie.. I've updated the current_items list again with a bunch more bugs (unban hack, speed cheat etc) and I still need to go through the rest of my "reform" folder, but I need to cover other things right now, so that will have to wait a bit.

For now we'll just have to wait things out.. Hopefully Valve will be able to do something about the Speed Cheat in short order, it's spreading fast. For now you may want to give Punkbuster another glance.

Misc
I just got done updating the bug list. With the new server patch, 4 bugs have been killed off (that were on our list, Valve knocked of a few that we didn't have listed as well). A good number of bug fixes should be fixed in the next server / client update, so I look forward to that.

Progress
|K2k|Slickis was kind enough to give us a repo on the multiple dispensers trick.. I sent that off to Valve, so hopefully they'll be able to add that to the next patch. -- Thanks again to [JS]Attack for letting us use his clan server when we need to for bug testing. That's helped immensely.

Help
What can you do to help? Well, make sure that we do have all the known bugs listed here, and give us how to's on anything that you can find. -- I've been getting a lot of POTD's with a floating sentry top again. Does anyone know how to do this? I haven't been able to recreate it.

That's all I have for now.. Have a good game!

Ok the Current Issues list is up! You can see what bugs we've sent to Valve and are going to be fixed. We need some repo cases for a couple to be able to fix them, that would be appreciated if we can get the help..

So, if you want to continue to help the Reform Project, send in any bugs you know of that are not on the Current List, or repo cases for ones on that list that we do not know about.

Thanks for all your help and support!

Hey, I just finished uploading version 3.0 of this page. My only goal was to make it easier to read and update. So it looks a bit more pleasing that the lime green and huge font (no offense tot :) that was burning my retinas, but it's more functional that fabulous.

In just a few minutes, I'm going to upload the latest and greatest version of our Bug List. The old lists however NEED to still be gone through and made sure that they have indeed all been removed. If someone is up for it, even taking a small section would help us out a ton! Email Us. -- I'm not going to convert them to the new page design until that is down either, would be a waste of my time doing so before they were checked..

I'll update again when I have that bug list ready.. In other news, thanks to [JS]Attack we now have access to a server on which we can test bugs/cheats/paks and all that good stuff! Thanks a metric-ton man, your server is of great help to us!

Oh man, it's been I looooong time since I (Tot) touched this bloody page. Between personal problems and a growing disgust when the game, I've forgotten my self-appointed duty to the community, and for that I want to apologize to all of you folks.

I had grown angry, because it had been a long time since I had gotten any feedback on bug reports from Valve, and after sending an angry email to them - I found out what the deal was, as well as a renewed commitment to keeping the lines open. Valve was busy, in addition to continuing work on TF2, they were getting the CounterStrike Retail product out, as well as the Gunman Chronicles. Now that those are dealt with, I've been assured that they will be turning their attention back to TFC with a vengeance. Bugstomping and cheat fixes have become hot items again, and I'm glad to see that level of commitment from Valve continuing on a product that brings them in ZERO revenue. They've also added another person there for corresponding with the gaming community, so hopefully they won't get as buried in stuff anymore.

Anyhow, I spent tonight going thru my newest listing of bug reports for version 1.1.0.4 They WILL be sent to Valve by Friday the latest, and I will be updating the page here so we'll have a more current and accurate listing. It'll be rough at first - might not my my usual comments for each item initially. But the concern is to have a place everyone can check to see if the bug has been reported.

Wednesday, October 18th, 2000 1635Z 1635Z, thanks for explaining that everyone!
Hello, it's time for an update! The TFC-Reform Project is in need of a Server that we can test out bugs and exploits on. Check out the dirt:

What Tot & Slick Need
  • A Decent Server
  • Rcon Access To The Server
  • The server ideally would be up 24-7, as we'll just test bugs when we first get the report. *
  • You being ok with us trying to crash your server if that's what the bug is were trying to duplicate. *

What You'll Get Out Of It
  • Mention on the TFC-Reform Help Page.
  • Knowing you did a ton of good for the TF Community.
  • Tons of praise from Tot and The Warthog.
  • Girls will find you more attractive.

    * If you run a clan server or something like that we will obviously respect when a bunch of players are on and only try to test bugs and the like when the server is empty or the people on the server are ok with us doing so.

Also, I've created a new alias for those reports to be sent in to: reform@planetfortress.com This addy will forward to both Tot and myself and should make things easier for everyone!

    Wednesday, October 18th, 2000 2300Z - 2300Z? I still don't know what the hell that is..
Ok, I just have a quickie update for today. Tot is still dealing with things (he's ok, just taking it easy on involving himself in this site as much) so until he's really back in the swing I'll be taking care of what would be considered "current" issues. When you submit a bug report, please email both Totentanz and myself. That way Tot can keep a list of what's come and gone, and I can go through and keep the system of correspondance with Valve up and running so they are on top of the latest issues.

Keep all feedback and comments along with reports coming in.

    Thanks! - The Warthog

Friday, August 25th, 2000 2300Z - 2300Z? I have no idea if that's the right thing to list, but since I'm just doing Totentanz a favor for updating, we'll say it is.

"Why haven't there been any updates?"

A very good question indeed, there are a couple reasons for the lack of 'major' updates that Tot has been delivering since the start of this project. A part of it is contributed to his taking a vacation for 2-3 weeks since his last update, and now he also has a personal problem. I wont go into detail, it's not serious serious stuff, but it's limiting him all the same, so he's taking it easy. The other reason, and the thing to be most proud of, is that there just aren't that many bugs! One or two do come along every now and then, either Tot or myself verify it, and pass it along to Valve. Things have been going very smooth with that process. I imagine that we'll update the list of those and such, and also see if there's any major gamedesign changes needed. (Stuff like the spectator mode that we got added etc).

That's all I have right now, I just wanted to give everyone an update on what's going on. Keep sending in those reports! - The Warthog

Friday, June 23, 2000 2300Z - After taking a break to deal with other issues, updated the TF1.5 issue listing with the most current info I've received from Valve for the upcoming server and client upgrades due out SOON. I'll dive back into the email again, finding the people that said they'd help go thru the old pre-TF1.5 buglist to confirm if they're all gone now. If you want to help out this effort, and you have not already done so - send me an email. But I'm not doing anything till Saturday. Radio Free Tampa is on tonite, and I'm NOT missing tonites show, damnit. I've stocked up on beer, and have a fresh pack of smokes.

Friday, June 16, 2000 2215Z - Completed and uploaded the re-organized version of the TF1.5 issues listing. Included is stuff that I have personally received word from Valve that is slated to be addressed in upcoming patches. Some issues, if I've received fixes/workarounds, I've added that info into the comments for that item Many thanks to PainKilleR of the TFTech page here on PF, [WoB]Enteri-TPF- , and all the other people who sent me in detailed reports and work-arounds. You folks help make my - and Valve's - jobs easier by doing so, and I salute you folks.

Tuesday, June 13, 2000 1415Z - Recovered from an attack of temporary insanity, and put the page back online again. As I said on the lead-in page, I'm requesting people hold off on email bug submission until Friday, June 16th - so I can get a chance to dig myself out of the pile of emails, and to organize the page into something USEFUL - unlike it barely is at present. Then we'll all be able to go "full speed ahead" at working on getting this mess fixed, so we can go back to trying to enjoy the game, instead of cursing the bugs.

Saturday, June 10, 2000 2359Z - Started the "hit list" for issues with the TF1.5 patch released by Valve. Made up a checklist of issues for the Pre-TF1.5 version, so if anyone wants to help with confirming things HAVE been corrected, they can download it HERE, and email it back to me when they're done checking the entries on it. I'll will have ommitted the item that I KNOW have been addressed, and those I know are still around. Once I get sufficient feedback on this, I'll update the associated page properly. I'm most likely NOT going to have time to run these down personally, as I'll most likely be spending much time dealing with the new bugs that TF1.5 gave us - so I'll be depending on some of you Warriors out there that would sacrifice their time in helping me out with this. I'll publish a listing of the names of people that help out on the page here as well. I'll probably be looking for about 10-12 devoted people to help with this, I shouldn't need more than that. Buckle your seat belts, folks - we're in for ANOTHER bumpy ride. :(

Tuesday, Mar 14, 2000 2030Z - Redid a few things, like trimmed the long-winded spiel at the bottom of the itemized listing page - cause obviously nobody read it or cares, cause I never received any comments about that. To the person who submitted that - sorry, but it seems the public at large doesn't care. *shrug* Completely redid the outstanding bug item list: Divided the item list into categories - Engine bugs, and Valve map bugs. Added a few newer items received from the community, and left off the blanks left for items scheduled to be addressed in an upcoming patch - whenever that happens. IF it ever happens. This update brought to you today by.....oh, who gives a rat's arse.. :|

Thursday, Mar 02, 2000 0600Z - Five more items to be added to the *SQUISH* list - one will definitely be a crowd-pleaser. Oh, and although I personally disagree with it, I'm adding the fast pipe det item to the list. This patch is starting to look good - when can we get our hands on it, eh? this update brought to you today by the letter "A", as in " AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHH!!!", and the number 666 ! ( quote from "Nightmare on Sesame Street")

Friday, Feb 18, 2000 0210Z - Put up my comments on this latest patch, and it seems that it's I didn't express myself clearly, enough, or people didn't like my choice of wording, or a combination of that and other factors. Well, I've decided to pull that one offline, and rewrite to better suit all people concerned - myself as well as the community - when I've got the time to do it right. Ain't happening tonite, after a rough night at work, anything I tried would be even more acerbic than the last attempt. Won't happen Friday, either - I've got plans that include social life in the world away from computers. I'll shoot for it on Saturday. Tune in later, eh?

Sunday, Jan 23, 2000 0130Z - Added two more items to the list of things that will be addressed in the upcoming patch. Added some shout-outs/credits to people that have assisted me, in the "how can I help" page. Changed some stuff in the "intro" page, to reflect that this is NOT the petition effort it was originally dreamed up as, due to Valve taking action to try to fix it, without a petition being organized. Oh, yeah, like the pretty little medkits I use for a "return home" link? Kawaii!! ^_^

Tuesday, Jan 11, 2000 2345Z - Added a couple of more items to the list, to include another pet peeve of mine, the lack of frags for killing Sguns, and lack of their death messages as well. Did a little bit of cleanup as well. Yes, I'm horribly behind in answering email, but it does get read, and used for submissions to the list as well. This update powered by pure willpower due to lack of sleep. :P

Saturday, Jan 8, 2000 0500Z - updated the itemized listing of issues with the information received directly from the folks at Valve. Made some other minor changes, specifically in the "how can I help?" section, looking for people with graphics talent, to try to make this site look less like the "Hello World" of HTML design. This update was powered by Michael Shea's Irish Amber lager.

Wednesday, Jan 5, 2000 1930Z - Uploaded Version 2.0 of this page, to make it easier for me to maintain the beast. Once again demonstrated my incompetance at HTML design by inflicting this on the unsuspecting public. ^_^ The dead scout bug and the other one causing problems have already been escalated to Valve by Bundy, and they are investigating it. I'll add it to the listing as I get more details to describe it, without giving a "tutorial" on how to do it.

I'm done reading here - can I leave now?
