Resources by various folk. Build Time : Yes. Editor(s) used : SLADE, Paint Shop Pro 7 May Not Run With... : Extremely-old (G)Zdoom versions. Anything from whatever version Zandronum 3.0 was spawned from is good; most notably, it works great in ZDoom 2.8.1, so record demos I guess if you wanna. =========================================================================== * Gameplay Notes * GENERAL ------- * Be sure to check the Customize Controls menu and make sure the "Buy Items" action is bound, else you won't get far. ;) * To upgrade weapons & obtain psychic powers, pick up Blood Money from fallen foes and press the "Buy Items" keybind to spend your hard-earned money. You know you want to. * Blood Money dropped from monsters will bounce around and disappear after a few seconds, so be aggressive and grab the cash before it's too late! * Blood money pickups will refill the PSI gauge. * While the Buy Items menu is open, press one of the two "Quickbuy" buttons while highlighting an item to assign it to the quickbuy slot. One assigned, you can press the quickbuy button while in-game to instantly purchase the item without opening the menu; very useful for health powerups, radsuits, etc. FIREARMS -------- * Don't underestimate your starting pistols; they're highly accurate and are very formidable when upgraded. * Ammo is infinite. Fire away! * Switching firearms is done via Doom's normal weapon switch keys. * Firing a gun will temporarly block your natural PSI regeneration, though PSI can still be obtained via blood money pickups. * One particular prototype firearm is powered by psychic energy, and will drain from your PSI pool to deal powerful shots. * Picking up a weapon you already own will grant you a large sum of Blood Money. Use 'em to level up your favorites! PSYCHIC POWERS -------------- * You'll begin the game with a single psychic power, "Steel". * More can be obtained via the "Buy Items" menu, provided you've got the cash. If not, better pay some demons a visit... * Psychic powers pull from your PSI pool (bar on right-side of HUD). This automatically recharges over time, but if you try and draw from it when you're near-empty, you'll suffer burnout and take damage instead. Don't over-stress the mind! * To switch Psychic powers, use the inventory prev/next keys to highlight the desired power (shown in the lower-right of the HUD) and press the inventory use key to select it. The currently-selected power is also shown nearby. Icons, ho! STRIFE-SPECIFIC STUFF --------------------- * In Strife (and only Strife), Steel is considered 'silent'. This allows you to progress "stealthily" through the areas that "require" it. * The Needlegun is also silent, so it'll also work in a pinch. * The Sigil is still present. It's in Slot 6, it runs off PSI instead of health now, and some of the firemodes have been revamped to better fit the new power scale. * Since the inventory bar has been repurposed for selecting psychic powers, obtaining a piece of Degnin ore will instead allow you to disable forcefields with your Handguns. Simply shoot 'em after picking up some ore and they'll go poof. * Quest-related inventory items, such as Beldin's ring and the Guard Uniform, are shown in the automap display's "Inventory" section along with keycards. Just a cosmetic thingy. * Gold is no longer present, and as a result, merchants are pretty useless. You can still visit Irale with the Flamethrower parts, though he will make you a grenade launcher instead. * Stamina upgrades still exist, though accuracy upgrades do not. Be sure to visit Gerard from time to time to get your latest implant, but ignore Feris because he's a stubborn grouch. =========================================================================== * Copyright / Permissions * Authors MAY use the contents of this file as a base for modification or reuse.
