Author Info : This is a dude who, 700 years ago, totally ravaged China, and who, we were told, two hours ago totally ravaged Oshman's Sporting Goods. He is an athletic and smooth-talking corporate personality who wears blue and red tights, a red cape, white gloves, and the Duff logo emblazoned across his chest. The costume - featuring a red hat, dark sunglasses, and a "utility belt" of beer cans around his waist - is designed to create awareness of Duff. He is generally dressed for desert travel. He wears a light blue (FF4080FF), cotton, long-sleeve shirt, denim jeans of the standard blue color, leather sandals, standard-height, white (FFFFFFFF) cotton socks, and light-weight clothing. He has blonde, spiky hair two inches long. Presently he has a condition known as "Three Stooges Syndrome" wherein a delicate homeostasis is established by the presence in his body of every known disease and other newly-discovered diseases unique to him, which, all trying to attack his body simultaneously, mutually cancel each other. He has several quirks, including unprompted laughter, non sequiturs and leaning back with his hands behind his head. She's a legit hardcore military babe who just happens to wear more eyeliner than Johnny Depp on Broadway! Her hobbies include shouting orders into empty hallways, biting her lip, and yelling at Our Hero so that we can feel bad that people are being mean to him. Off-screen, she's the frontwoman for every band you've ever heard in Hot Topic. He is also so radioactive that he poses a danger to himself and others. And he is also, unfortunately, an escaped convict. He interpreted this condition as indestructibility, although the doctor who made the diagnosis suggested that the slightest breeze could kill him. Physically weak, he often has difficulty performing such simple actions as giving a thumbs-up, receiving a hug, crushing a paper cup, and crushing an insect by stepping on it. He is light enough to be pushed over by an ant, a banknote or a high-five, carried away by a single bee, or pushed down by a sponge resting on his head while taking a bath-in which he nearly drowned. Suddenly aware that he has so much to live for, he bursts out of the pool in possibly the most poorly disguised baptismal analogy ever attempted on film. The end. S5DM02: Moon Shoes Author: Esselfortium Description: Probably my favorite of all the DM maps I've created, this one is a big city of skyscrapers floating in space. Jump between them, go inside some of the buildings, discover paths that lead you on crazy jumps taking you all the way across the map... S5DM03: The Boston UAC Tea Party Author: Esselfortium Description: The most successful of my experimental endeavors for this wad, The Boston UAC Tea Party is somewhat unique in that half the gameplay takes place underwater. A faux-3D setup using silent teleporters to result in a submerged layout of coral, rocks, floating crates, a boat, etc... How do your weapons work underwater? It's the future, shut up. S5DM04: Mr. Spacely's Sprocket Surprise! Author: Zap610 Description: It's Girg's birthday and Mr. Spacely wants to throw him a surprise party. However, a rumor has been going around that Girg is having an affair with his wife, so Spacely decided to throw Girg a surprise he'll never forget - or survive! S5DM05: Jetsons Go To Skiing Planet Zorgon Author: Esselfortium Description: Oh yeah, this is one of the weird ones. Super Mario 64 ice-level music combined with some of my first attempts at making slopes. Not for "serious" play, but who cares? S5DM06: Planet Xerox: Xerox Edition Author: Xaser Description: A Xaserious reworking of S5DM01, featuring a new, more complex arrangement of platforms and an added network of walkways floating high above the original layout. S5DM07: Jetsons Space Club 7 Author: Esselfortium Description: Literally the first map ever made for SPACEDM5. A few days after the first 32in24, in which I made my two first ever DM maps, I got the idea to make a space/void level inspired by vague memories of playing levels like Unreal Tournament's "Morpheus". This being my first ever attempt at a ZDoom map, I got caught up in the technics of it and ended up just making a completely goofy, ridiculous layout of floating square platforms instead of the epic scenes I had originally envisioned. This used to be in the MAP01 slot, and it was used as a lobby of sorts. S5DM08: Asteroid Excursion 23 Author: Esselfortium Description: A small layout I did one day in an attempt to replicate the gameplay style that I had gotten when I made Planet Xerox. It's much...smaller, though. I think this might be the only SPACEDM5 void-platformer map where you're more likely to stay alive if you *don't* try jumping. S5DM09: Angsty Water Map ;_; Author: Xaser Description: A level focused around a floating block of water, including switches that, once per minute, can be used to turn the void into an infinite vertical teleport loop. Note: This map requires OpenGL, because ZDoom's software renderer is incapable of correctly handling the portal usage in it. Sorry dudes! S5DM10: 25 Miles From the Outskirts of Space-Dallas Author: Esselfortium Description: Experience the many (small) wonders of Space Wal-Mart! Inspired by a couple of dumb inside jokes, this map is definitely weird, at least in concept. It should be far more playable now that the lava pools no longer kill you. Be sure to take advantage of the back- to-school deal on Baked Schmeagol. S5DM11: Inside Bill Gates' Brain Author: Zap610 Description: Enter at your own peril, past the bolted door where impossible things may happen that the world has never seen before... S5DM12: Eep! Opp! Ork! Ah-Ah! Author: (yes, it's) Esselfortium Description: Allow me to apologize in advance for this map: God, I'm sorry. It's a bowl, floating in space, with hard- to-reach powerups floating around it, and a hole in the middle. And that's literally it. It's only still here because we never bothered to update or replace it, and it'd be weird to get rid of it now. S5DM13: Space Duel Author: Xaver (not Xaser) Description: Xaver joined [Jetsons] at some point and submitted this map! It's a space-void layout, somewhat flatter than a lot of the others. Not sure what else to say? S5DM14: Spayss Duhl Author: Xaser (not Xaver (not Xaser)) Description: Space Duel's malformed younger brother. This is what happens when your spaceship's warp drive fails horribly and lands you in the wrong dimension. S5DM15: Big Space Apple, 3AM Author: MasterOFDeath Description: A city in space! MasterOFDeath surprised me with this map earlier this year. It's got some nifty usage of additive blending and faux-3D structures. It's spacey. What more could one possibly want? A lot, probably, but that is irrelevant. S5DM16: Minor Turbulence on the Spacebus Author: deathz0r Description: In a small grade school, one class has a unique way of learning about the world with their teacher, Ms. Frizzle. To illustrate the science concepts they discuss, they always go on a field trip on the Magic Schoolbus, a magic vehicle that can literally go anywhere and be anything as the class explores space. S5DM17: Exterior of Sandy Petersen's House Author: Esselfortium Description: Originally a last-minute layout I made for the first 32in24, it wasn't included because there was a two-layouts-per-participator rule. (At that point, 32in24 was holding strictly to a "32 maps" rule. We had not yet broken out of that proverbial box, because we had only just created it.) A couple weeks later I removed all the solid walls, replacing them with void, and adjusted the map a bit, and got this. A bit crampy and I usually die a lot on it; oh well. S5DM18: Road Construction on the Ol' Space Highway Author: Xaser Description: The space highway, once a high-traffic area, has fallen into neglect and disrepair since the completion of the new bypass that shortcuts directly to Space-Dallas. Here we see some of the hardworking robotic machinery preserving this relic of space history for generations to come, or at least until it's leveled to put in another shopping mall. S5CTF01: The Terrible Secret of Space! Author: Esselfortium Description: A "serious" CTF map I did a year or so ago with some fun 3D stuff using portals and transfer heights tomfoolery. S5CTF02: Space City Rooftop CTF Authors: Zap610 and Esselfortium Description: Shortly after completing the original SPACEDM5 map, "Jetsons Space Club 7", Zap sent me a modified version of one of his maps, Mistyfalls or Mistyfalls 2 or some such thing. I don't know! We made various modifications to it and eventually ended up with this. Evidently the jump pads are "fun", with this meaning that everyone except me is great at this map. S5CTF03: Jane Stop This Crazy Thing! CTF Author: Esselfortium Description: A CTF map in the style of Jetsons Space Club 7. Hopping across BLAKWAL platforms and such. Can be fun if you're into that sort of thing. S5CTF04: Journey to the Center of Uranus Author: Zap610 Description: An odyssey in easy listening music and moving platforms. S5CTF05: Race Bannon's Space Cannon Author: deathz0r Description: The space cannons are malfunctioning again! It's your task to brave the expanse of space to capture the flags and return them to their rightful homes. S5CTF06: Papa Loves Mambo Author: Esselfortium Description: This map was long considered totally unplayable, but maybe now that the earthquakes have been drastically reduced it'll be at least as playable as S5CTF03. Similar style of layout, but with rock platforms bobbing up and down inside a poorly-made volcano. S5CTF07: The Spiffchasm! Author: Tango Description: If I had known Tango would only make one SPACEDM5 map before getting tired of Doom mapping, I probably would have asked him to make something different than a void CTF version of Doom II's "The Chasm". To date I think he's probably the only person to ever be good at playing this map. Come back, Tango :( S5CTF08: Spacetroop Soup Author: Kuchikitaichou Description: An excursion to the icy netherlands of space, and some tech installations that have been built around it for the primary purpose of flag-capturing. S5CTF09: Remote Station of Planet Zhertvaya Author: Kuchikitaichou Description: A wide-open arrangement of walkways floating in the void somewhere in an otherwise unoccupied region of the universe. S5ST01: The Hunt for Red Lobstober Author: Revenant Description: A defunct orbital manufacturing and shipping plant in the middle of nowhere, formerly used in the construction of grey crates, brown crates, and nuclear submarines. Today, its experimental interdimensional portals continue to operate, despite costing the UAC billions of space dollars per month. But creepy stuff happens in nowhere, and it's up to you to save this outmoded facility by scoring more points than the opposing team! S5ST02: Symphony of a Small Jetson Author: Kuchikitaichou Description: A Skulltag gamemode map that was deemed "fun, but rather cramped." T'was remade for S5ST03. S5ST03: Symphony of a Medium-Sized Jetson Authors: Esselfortium and Kuchikitaichou Description: A resized and re-detailed version of S5ST02, now with enhanced prettiness and enough room to move around. S5ST04: The Great Space Jewel Heist, Part IV Author: ClonedPickle and Esselfortium Description: After the thrilling conclusion of The Great Space Jewel Heist, Part III, you thought it was over. But against all odds, the fight is on yet again, and this time it's not just the fabled Space Jewels on the line... S5COOP01: Space Lounge! 8] Authors: Esselfortium and Killingblair Description: This was originally supposed to be a lobby filled with various minigames and other such silliness, but we got sidetracked before long, so it's just a lounge, a rave room, and a treadmill game. S5COOP02: The Jetsons Halloween Extravaganza Authors: Esselfortium and Zap610 Description: The most effort-intensive SPACEDM5 map, this was a major event prepared for Halloween 2007. OpenGL preferred, but it'll still run properly in software. A dark and spooky, heavily detailed gigantic techbase, with one horrifying threat looming around it... S5COOP03: HUEG Blue Authors: RottKing (map), Kate and Tun (scripting) Description: A lot many racers aspire to race on the race track that is called Hueg Blue but unfortunately little do they know that the race track is very difficult and has a lot of danger. Death sometimes occurs on the race track called Hueg Blue but for experienced racers this is just another day at the beach. Important Note Regarding Capture The Flag (CTF) Gameplay Rules FLAG CARE. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHALL YOU: • dip it for any person or thing. • display it upside down. if you cannot tell if the flag is upside down, check the position of the flagpole. • let the flag touch anything beneath it: ground, floor, water, merchandise. • carry it horizontally, but always aloft, and proudly. • fasten or display it in a way that will permit it to be damaged or soiled. • place anything on the flag, including letters, insignia, or designs of any kind. • use it for holding anything. • use it as wearing apparel, bedding or drapery. • use the flag for advertising or promotion purposes or print it on paper napkins, boxes or anything else intended for temporary use and discard. • DROP THE FLAG. IN DOING SO, YOU MAY FACE PROSECUTION TO THE FULLEST EXTENT OF SPACE MARITIME LAW. Single Player : No Cooperative 2-4 Player : Designed for Deathmatch 2-4 Player : Designed for Other game styles : Capture the Flag, Hopping On Colored Squares, Skull Tag, Space Wal-Mart Shopping Spree, Race, Chillout Lounge Difficulty Settings : Way too hard. Definitely. Defiantly. * Construction * Base : New from scratch Build Time : 2 and a half years with some breaks Editor(s) used : Doom Builder, Doom Builder 2, SLADE, SLumpEd, XWE, Photoshop, Reason, Paint, Paint.NET Known Bugs : You die in the game, you die for real. Also, don't even think about trying to use bots on these maps. Skulltag will hang up indefinitely trying to generate the bot nodes for most of them due to the size of the maps, and the bots would just jump off cliffs the whole time anyway. In addition, Skulltag 98a has a couple of bugs when playing SPACEDM5. Most importantly, the infinite-looping vertical teleport in Angsty Water Map (S5DM09) is quite broken in netplay, but some flat alignments in S5COOP02 and S5DM10 also break online in 98a. Torr has graciously fixed these Skulltag bugs for us, so using a newer version (at the time of this writing this would mean using a development build, but eventually 98b or anything after it) will avoid those issues.
