====================================================================== Archive Maintainer : This is a wad version of an existing Dmgraph patch. This version can be used with Doom, Ultimate Doom or Doom II, and is compatible with any source port that can import pwads containing sprite graphics (most of them). Update to : ./idgames/graphics/rpgv1.zip Advanced engine needed : No Primary purpose : No levels included ====================================================================== Title : RPG Doom (version 2) Filename : rpgv2.wad Release date : January 2001 Author : Mike Davidsen Email Address : jherndon@vt.edu Description : I could never understand why the Doom Marine fires his rocket launcher from between his legs. Perhaps in a masochistic way he enjoys the recoil. Anyway, this graphics-only wad is a replacement for Doom/Doom2's rocket launcher and you carry it on your shoulder like any sensible marine. Additional Credits to : Sparky of KISS Software (kelm@eisa.net.au) for converting the original Dmgraph patch to wad format. ====================================================================== * What is included * New levels : None Sounds : No Music : No Graphics : Yes Dehacked/BEX Patch : No Demos : No Other : No Other files required : A source port if you don't want to use a patched 'Plain Vanilla' Doom or Doom II. * Play Information * Game : Any version of Doom or Doom II Map # : Any (this is a graphics-only wad). Single Player : Yes " " " Cooperative 2-4 Player : Yes " " " Deathmatch 2-4 Player : Yes " " " Difficulty Settings : not applicable * Construction * Base : rpgv1.zip (the Dmgraph version). Build Time : a couple of hours Editor(s) used : Dmgraph, WinTex, DeuTex, NWT, Paint Shop Pro Known Bugs : none May Not Run With... : JDoom v0.81 * What's new to this version? * Mods made by Sparky of KISS Software: (the original distribution contained 19 files, was only for Doom1, it modified your doom.wad, and it contained several aesthetic bugs). - converted the Dmgraph patch to wad format for use with ANY version of Doom or Doom II. - reduced the size of the sprites by cropping the transparent areas. - fixed the vertical and horizontal sprite offsets for both the weapon and ammo. - edited out the aiming dot because it didn't align with the point of impact, and besides, most source ports provide their own crosshair. - cropped the barrel from the brighter, firing frames to prevent a vertical line from appearing between the normal and fullbright sprites. - added a slightly more detailed text file. ====================================================================== * Installation * Play with Regular Doom/Doom2: a) add the extra sprites to rpgv2.wad using a program such as DeuSF, WinTex, NWT, etc. For example: deusf -as rpgv2.wad b) run the game with: doom -file rpgv2.wad or doom2 -file rpgv2.wad Play with a Doom Source Port: A much better option is to use a Doom Source Port that can import pwads containing sprite graphics; such as: Boom, PrBoom, MBF, SMMU, PrjDoom, Vavoom, ZDoom, Legacy, Edge, etc. Patching is not required, just use the wad as-is. For example: boom -file rpgv2 ====================================================================== * Copyright / Permissions * Authors MAY use the contents of this file as a base for modification or reuse provided that you credit the original authors: Dmgraph version Mike Davidsen Wad version (and fixes) Sparky of KISS Software You may distribute rpgv2.wad in any electronic format (BBS, Diskette, CD, etc) as long as you include this text file intact. * Where to get the file that this text file describes * ftp://ftp.cdrom.com/pub/idgames/graphics/rpgv2.zip and mirrors The original text file follows: ====================================================================== RPG DOOM v1.0 RPG DOOM replaces all rockets in DOOM with RPGs and puts the RPG on your shoulder. It was produced using DMGRAPH, Windows Paintbrush, and Graphics Workshop! To install RPG DOOM simply unzip using pkunzip RPG.ZIP to a "rpg" dirctory in DOOM, then copy RPG.BAT and UNRPG.BAT files to the DOOM directory then run it by typing "RPG". RPG DOOM will the install itself and then all rockets in DOOM will become RPGs. RPG DOOM is produced by: Mike Davidsen-Graphics Josh Herndon-Text & Bug Killer Bill Tucker-Moral Support & Inspiration Special thanks to David Biggs for giving us a base to work off of. If you have any suggestions for future weapons e-mail Josh Herndon at: jherndon@vt.edu Thanks for playing RPG. I forgot to mention that DMGRAPH is required to run RPG DOOM.
