=========================================================================== Review : A jewel! Lots of original new enemies and levels. =========================================================================== Primary purpose : Single+Coop play / Deathmatch =========================================================================== Title : PTDOOM (PWAD-version) Filename : ptwrath.wad, flybaron.wad, flybaron.deh, cocohead.wad, possguy.wad, sposguy.wad, ptaliens.wad, e2m9fix.wad Note by the uploader : This has been originally released as a bundle of the level wad and the enemy graphics, that had to be separately installed via dmgraph. Also the dehacked patch was created with a nowadays outdated version of dehacked and an outdated version of DooM. Because of that, this has been converted into a modern source-port-friendly format by the uploader. It's also still playable with plain vanilla DooM (see installation instructions below). The name of the creator of this stuff has been found out via searching the web and reading the textfiles of his other stuff. Release date : 09/08/94 MM/DD/YY (Timestamp of the latest files in the original package PTDOOM.ZIP) Author : Phillip T. Other game styles : No Difficulty Settings : Not implemented Playing with source ports : To run this stuff with any common advanced source-port, the most simple way might be to just place the files from ptdoomp.zip into the directory, where your DooM-IWAD and source-port- executable is, and modify the file edit_me.bat, so that it calls your executable. You might also want to peek into bla.bat (the general concept works not only with zdoom, but also with prboom, gzdoom, legacy, you-name-it ...), that i used to test this stuff without having to mix up my holy DooM- and source-port-folders with a bunch of add-on files. Edit one of those batch files to your needs, and everything will go fine. Playing with plain vanilla DooM : Short instructions: - You need deusf and deutex in your directory. - Install with vaninst.bat . - Play with vanplay.bat . - Enjoy! Long instructions: To run this add-on with plain vanilla DooM, you will want to put all the data of the separate pwads into one single pwad and to add some necessary stuff from the IWAD to that file. You will also have to modify your doom.exe with the included dehacked patch. In order to do this, you have to get the latest version of DEUSF, that comes together with DEUTEX (stored in the directory /utils/graphics_edit/deutex/ of the /idgames -ftp -archives, see list of mirrors below). You also have to have dehacked from either dhe30a.zip or dhe31.zip. They are stored in utils/exe_edit/ of the /idgames -ftp-archives. Now place deusf.exe and dehacked.exe in DooM-Installation and the new pwads. Run the batch-file vaninst.bat. You can then play the game by running the batch-file vanplay.bat. The modified executable, that is intended to be used with this add-on will be doomhack.exe. You can delete it with the other add-on files, when you no longer want to play with PTDOOM. * Construction * Base : New from scratch E3M8 is a bigger version of Wheelers earlier CITYLIFE.WAD. The author has also anonymously released a series of separate WADs, called PLANET**.WAD's, that became later the Episode 2 of PTWRATH.WAD: PTWRATH.WAD E2M7 --> PLANET-A.WAD E1M1 / PLANET_A.WAD E2M7 PTWRATH.WAD E2M3 --> PLANET-B.WAD E2M3 PTWRATH.WAD E2M4 --> PLANET-C.WAD E2M4 PTWRATH.WAD E2M9 --> PLANET-D.WAD E2M9 PTWRATH.WAD E2M6 --> PLANET-E.WAD E2M6 PTWRATH.WAD E2M5 --> PLANET-F.WAD E2M5 PTWRATH.WAD E2M1 --> PLANET-G.WAD E1M1 PTWRATH.WAD E2M8 --> PLANET-H.WAD E2M8 PTWRATH.WAD E2M2 --> PLANET-I.WAD E2M2 Editor(s) used : deutex and xwe for pwadisation. Known Bugs : [Note by the uploader:] I found some HOM effects in E2M9 and was able to fix this by using the automatic fixing features of Codeimps DooMBuilder. The result is stored in e2m9fix.wad and used by the batch-files. Please note : The original dehacked patch, created with dehacked 1.3 and DooM v. 1.2 is together with the original File_id.diz stored in the zip origdizanddeh.zip. * Where to get the file that this text file describes * The mirrors of the /idgames -ftp-archives: ftp://ftp.fu-berlin.de/pc/msdos/games/idgames/ http://public.ftp.planetmirror.com/pub/idgames/ http://www.gamers.org/pub/idgames/ ftp://ftp.ntua.gr/pub/vendors/idgames/ http://ftp.ntua.gr/pub/vendors/idgames/ ftp://ftp.chg.ru/pub/games/idgames/ http://ftp.chg.ru/pub/games/idgames/ ftp://ftp.mancubus.net/pub/idgames/ http://ftp.mancubus.net/pub/idgames/ http://youfailit.net/pub/idgames/ http://ftp.fdn.fr/games/idgames/ ftp://ftp.clinet.fi/pub/mirrors/archives.3dgamers.com/idgames/ ftp://ftp.task.gda.pl/pub/games/idgames/ ftp://ftp.netc.pt/pub/idgames/ http://ftp.netc.pt/pub/idgames/ http://crydee.sai.msu.ru/ftproot/pub/rec/games/idgames/ The upload-server of the /idgames-archives is: ftp://archives.3dgamers.com/pub/idgames/ But please use the above listed mirrors for your downloads. =========================================================================== Submitted to the /idgames-ftp-archives by FunDuke --> funduke@hotmail.com The review at the beginning of this template has been written by FunDuke.
