This is the 15th map in the Blind Alley series for Doom 2, now running on level 1. I am pretty sure this place only exists in my mind. Artistic license used freely. A nice medium sized map with decent attention to detail, but not so much that it requires a port. You will never have for hunt for ammo in here. That is the least of your problems. Health, armor and ammo all feel quite generous to me. While none of the secrets are required to finish the map they do contain health and extra ammo to ease you on your way. Health in this map is slightly tight in places and generous in others. Only by playing it will you discover where you can be brave. It plays much like Doom 2 on UV. How you view it of course, depends on your skill. Demos or feedback greatly appreciated. I have been mapping for about six years. This is the 15th of my levels that I feel is OK for release. It is a very fun map. Detail is nice, but the concentration here is on gameplay. Some good old fashioned run and gun in here. Stay awake however, or you could get very dead. I consider this map medium to only somewhat hard in UV during normal un-hurried play. UV in this map is however aimed at the experienced player. The skill levels I have added for you could come in handy until you learn the map. The harder you push the harder the map pushes back. So, if it is just to easy, boost it up to fast or respawn, but most people won't need that. Or, there is a generous supply of extra monsters in multi-player. So play it as a single in multi player UV mode if you really want your blood to flow. The Legacy launcher makes that a snap. Legacy version 1.40a UV max demo of this map, included in the zip file. To play the demo use the following command line: c:\doom2\legacy.exe -file BndAlyY.wad -playdemo BAYgba or c:\doom2\legacy.exe -file BndAlyY.wad -timedemo BAYgba This assumes your doom2 folder is on your c: drive, and that you have the excellent, free, Legacy port. Get Legacy at: http://legacy.newdoom.com/ Additional thanks to the authors of the various maps that inspired me for parts of this map. Including E4M3 of 2002ADO by Chris Hansen, and Memento Mori map 5, by The Memento Mori Crew. There are, or soon will be, other excellent demos of this map at the following site: Doomworld Speed Demo Archives. http://www.doomworld.com/sda/doom_sda.htm What are you waiting for? Get busy!
