Here are some quick tips for using DoomEd 4.2 To create sectors, drag a rectangle with the RIGHT mouse button. This rectangle must NOT be inside another sector. When you release the button, you will be given a list of options for this new sector, including stairs, circles, stars. You can move multiple sectors into another sector, ie. staircase. You can select multiple things, lines, or sectors, and when you make ANY changes, such as textures or heights, they are all changed. Select multiples by dragging a rectangle around them. If you hold the SHIFT key, the new selections will be added. If you wish to drag sectors and force their vertices to snap to the grid, use the VERTEX tool, not SECTOR. By dragging vertices, you force them all to snap to the grid. Moving sectors only keeps the mouse position snapped. Modify a sector (apply style, make door, etc.) by right clicking on it. You can select a whole bunch and make them all Window Frames, for example. Using the right mouse button in sector mode also allows you to DUPLICATE, ROTATE and SCALE sectors or groups of sectors. Very useful... in fact, you can take an entire map and duplicate it. Double click on an item to bring up the editing box for it. In the Sectors and Things, there is a >> button. This shows you the thing or floor/ceiling textures while selecting. When you modify a line, you must actually CLICK on the texture name to see the wall texture. These change quickly as you move through the list. More questions? e-mail allang@cuug.ab.ca When you register, you will get a 62 page book with diagrams, screen shots, samples, etc.
