Januari 26, 1997 ======================================================================== Title : Qthrob2.zip Author : Paul Steffens Email Address : paul@exchange.macaw.nl Description : Quake Netscape throbber for Netscape 3 and Communicator Additional Credits to : id Software, of course PSC, for pointing out how to do this Cable Hicks for Adquedit Rene Post for making the Quake Model editor ======================================================================== * Information * New level : No New Sounds : No New Graphics : Yes New Music : No Demos Replaced : No * Construction * Base : Quad powerup model from Quake Editor(s) used : Adquedit for extracting the quad model Quake Model editor for viewing the model Photoshop 4.0 for compositing and editing Known Bugs : This only works with Netscape 3 and Communicator Netscape Communicator only uses the smaller throbber and clips the image when the toolbar buttons are displayed without text (the 'advanced'-option according to the prefference menu, duh!) Build Time : several hours * Other Info * PSC showed me how to replace the netscape throbber. The throbber is the Netscape logo at the top right of the browser that animates during the sending and receiving of signals. Well, I just had to make one myself but the logo I use was too wide for the job. So then it dawned on me that the Quake quad powerup is perfect for this. I made a first version using 5 frames of animation thinking that was a limit. But I was wrong and so I made this version that has 12 frames and should be a lot smoother. * How to install * Put both the .BMP's in the same directory as the netscape executable. If you've used the standard path for netscape it would be (probably): C:\Program files\Netscape\Program Fire up your browser and surf with quad power! NOTE: if you use Netscape Communicator you only have to use 30m.bmp * Copyright / Permissions * You are free to distribute the zipfile as long as you keep all the files intact and unchanged and don't charge anything.
