Last Minute Notes for Xmas-Duke 96 It's been a real horror putting this one together. Everything that could have possibly gone wrong did. We lost 2 level designers with 1 day to go in the project... the main artist left for vacation without completing Santa. There was going to be a full set of replacement Duke speak until I learned I just didn't sound like Santa AT ALL. And to top it off.. we created the best Midi you have ever heard, and Cakewalk did NOT want to save it correctly. Here I am 4 hours after the promised release and we are still finishing it up. But.. it's here.. and it rocks. I hope you all like my Christmas present. Email comments to Santa@Head2Head.com. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= :: BUGS :: We just spent the last 5 hours trying to figure out why our custom midi works under Windows, under CakeWalk, under EVERY OTHER DAMN MIDI EDITOR WE HAVE and yet have problems on some PC. For example, it worked on 2 of the 3 machines here but the 3rd (P200 with an Roland SC-15) gave a nasty back hum. If this happens to you.. we are really sorry, but blame someone else. Then go listen to the midi in Win95 cause it's incredible. :: SLOW PC's :: If you have a slower PC, you may want to play the No Snow map. The falling snow effect takes ALOT of CPU time. It will bring my P200 to a crawl at 640x480 (though it's quite playable at other resoultions). However if you do play it at that.. please take a few minutes to go through without monsters.. the looks on this level (in my opinion) are incredible. :: The Levels :: 3 Levels are included. The first is a custom level (the only one of the 3 originally planned). Levels 2 and 3 are converted Duke Maps that we at H2H:Phoenix enjoy playing on. I converted them to the Christmas theme. All 3 should be fun in DM. :: Using the Graphics for normal Duke :: The nice thing about XMAS-Duke is that you can install the graphics in to your duke directory itself and see them all the time. It really helps give a festive feel to Duke. To get these graphics all the time, simply type (from inside your Duke3D directory) "copy xddata\*.art". This will copy all .ART files to your Duke Directory. However this will overwrite any custom graphics already there. :: The Flame Thrower :: This is a cool new weapon done by Samhuri@wwdc.com. He offered it to the project, so I included it. Personally I think it's really cool (it also add's some gibs) but it may slow your machine down a bit.
