DUKE TREK 3D: A Star Trek Total Conversion By: Jacob M Goldman Version: Beta 1.5 =========================================================================== PART 1: TECHNICAL INFORMATION ----------------------------- REQUIREMENTS: ------------- >Duke Nukem 3D v1.3D registered version OR Duke Nukem 3D Atomic Edition >Approximately 20 megabytes hard disk space VERSION BETA 1.3 CHANGES ------------------------- 1. There is a new opening animation which shows Duke flying in from the Enterprise D. 2. The bug with the new enemy drone making the sounds from the Fat Commmander has been fixed. 3. Support for the Atomic Edition (versions 1.4 / 1.5) has been added. If you have this version you will also note that the episode name and difficulty level names are modified. It isn't possible to change this with version 1.3D. 4. Few people were aware that there was an Alpha version of level 3 (the USS Enterprise) was included, due to the fact that Deep Space Nine was not included (not made yet) and the game exited after completing the USS Pentagon. Now, you will "enter deep space nine" only to actually be entering a room that will immeadiately end the level to bring you to Level 3, the Enterprise, in Alpha. 5. A bug involving getting the phaser rifle cells and displaying the message "GOT AMMO FOR SHOTGUN" has been fixed. 6. DUKETREK.TXT (this file) has been updated, and mistakes in the installation information have been rectified. -------------------- IMPORTANT REQUEST! -------------------- PLEASE DO NOT USE ANY OF THE DUKE TREK 3D FILES (art files, voc files, anm files, etc...) FOR YOUR OWN PURPOSES OR TOTAL CONVERSIONS. WE HAVE SPENT UNCANNY HOURS CREATING THESE FILES AND IT WOULD BE EXTREMELY UNFAIR, RUDE, AND BELIGERENT (not to mention illegal) TO TAKE THESE FILES AND CALL THEM YOUR OWN WORK. IF WE SEE THIS OCCURING, WE WILL: A) Cease from further production of DUKE TREK. B) Reveal that our work was stolen and used to downloaders or visiters of your web site. C) Possibly take legal action. INSTALLATION: ============= ---------------------------- FIRST TIME FULL INSTALLATION ---------------------------- Note: Bear in mind that you can not run DUKE TREK 3D and Duke Nukem 3D from the same directory. You can however, install Duke Nukem 3D twice or copy it to another directory in order to have one copy to run DUKE TREK and on for the original game. 1. Make the files "DTSETUP.BAT", "DTSETUPA.ZIP", "PKUNZIP.EXE","PKUNZIP.EXE", "DTFILES1.ZIP", "DTFILES2.ZIP", and "DTFILES3.ZIP" are in the Duke 3D directory. 2. a. FOR DUKE NUKEM 3D 1.3D Run "DTSETUP.BAT" by double clicking on it in Windows 95 (the program is compatible with Windows 95, but we recommend running in in DOS MODE if you have Win 95) or by typing "dtsetup" in DOS. b. FOR DUKE NUKEM 3D 1.4 / 1.5 Run "DTSETUPA.BAT" by double clicking on it in Windows 95 (the program is compatible with Windows 95, but we recommend running in DOS MODE if you have Win 95) or by typing "dtsetupa" in DOS. 3. Duke Trek will then automatically back up your old Duke Nukem 3D files that it overwrites to install the Total Conversion, and will then install the total conversion. 4. To run Duke Trek 3D, type "duketrek" in DOS or double click in Win 95. 5. You may then remove the files "DTSETUP.BAT", this file ("DUKETREK.TXT"), "DTFILES1.ZIP", "DTFILES2.ZIP", "DTFILES3.ZIP", and "DTSETUPA.BAT" if like, but it is recommended you back them up on disk if you ever wish to reinstall the TC. ---------------------------- BETA 1.3 PATCH INTSTALLATION ---------------------------- 1. Make sure the files "DTP13.BAT", "DTS13A.BAT", "PKUNZIP.EXE", and "DTP13.ZIP" are in your DUKE TREK 3D directory with DUKE TREK 3D already installed. 2. a. FOR DUKE NUKEM 3D 1.3D Run the file "DTP13.BAT" by double clicking it in Win 95 or, type "dtp13" in DOS. b. FOR DUKE NUKEM 3D 1.4 / 1.5 Run the file "DTP13A.BAT" by double clicking in Win 95 or typing "dtp13a" in DOS. 3. The programs will then automatically upgrade DUKE TREK 3D to Beta 1.3 . 4. To run DUKE TREK 3D, simply type "DUKETREK" as before. UNINSTALLATION -------------- Note: Uninstallation does NOT backup the Duke Trek. You will need to run the installation process again with your originally downloaded file to reinstall. Unless you left "DUKETREK.ZIP" and "DTSETUP.BAT" in your directory, Duke Trek will not be able to reinstall automatically. 1. Simply type "dtremove" in DOS. KNOWN BETA PROBLEMS: -------------------- 1. The main entrance swinging doors that enter the "Risa Resort Hotel" from the outside have an odd, incorrect appearence when opened from certain view points. 2. This isn't really a beta problem, it is a problem with Duke Nukem 3D. If look in one security screen, and then step back, all the security screens in the room show the same thing. Just remember if you see this when playing, all the screens show different places (except for some) when you "activiate" them. 3. The mirrors in the transport room at Risa and in the bathroom on the ship are distorted in certain positions when ducking. 4. The opening screen which shows Duke floating in space in front of the enterprise has some odd coloration. 5. Level 3 is basically being released in Alpha. It isn't NEARLY complete. INCLUDED IN THIS VERSION: ------------------------- Levels -- USS PENTAGON (level 1) - complete except for minor bugs USS ENTERPRISE (level 3) - still in major production Weapons -- Phaser (weapon 2) Phaser Rifle (weapon 3) Plasma Cannon (weapon 4) Plasma Launcher (weapon 5) Sounds -- lots of new sounds based around the theme of the 1st and 3rd levels. Music -- First Contact music played in level 1 Star Trek IV music played in level 3 THIS MUSIC IS PRODUCED AND A TRADEMARK OF PARAMOUNT PICTURES Art -- lots of new art needed for level 1 and 3 Animation -- new opening animation PART 2: THE STORY ================== SINGLE PLAYER ------------- After defeating the final alien on the football field, Duke took its belt as a souvenier. After some R&R, he's hanging the belt on the wall, when he hits a button behind it. He feels naseau and drops the belt. He faints, and is soon woken up by a man's voice saying "Computer, begin a thirteen hour countdown." A moment later, a digital voice replies, "Auto destruct sequence activated." Duke jumps up off the chair he's sitting in, and mutters "Where the hell am I?" Without further a do, he sets off to find out. As Duke Nukem, thrown into the 24th century of Star Trek, you'll uncover through crew member logs how you got here and what's been going on. Realizing your Risa's, and then the future's, only hope, you seek out to destroy those alien bastards once and for all. As Duke Nukem you'll battle your way through the USS PENTAGON, be captured and held aboard DEEP SPACE NINE, where you'll escape with Captain Jean-Luc Picard to the USS ENTERPRISE D. From there, you'll engage the aliens and their alien alies at STARFLEET HEADQUARTERS, and finally get to the USS DEFIANT where you'll find and destroy the true alien leader. DUKEMATCH / DEATHMATCH ------------------------ It was a calm day in the 24th century, on shore leave at the pleasure planet of Risa, in the Star Trek world. That's when you decide to start the mutiny you've been planning. YOU are really an undercover Romulan agent, and snatching the 21st century weapon you stowed aboard, you massacre the crew of the USS PENTAGON with it and you're partners. Their sensors unable to pickup the modified phaser, and the element of surprise while they're on shore leave, it's an easy enough job. But harsh argument falls upon you and your partners. You and the other (how ever many players there are... hopefully more then 3 for this size!) Romulans begin to get extremely volatile over who takes the High Council reward. Two of the Romulans in the same room attack eachother, and one is vaporized. None of you know which of you did it. Being in separate rooms, arguing over computer terminals, you all set out to assasinate the others, and claim the reward for yourself before the PENTAGON is destroyed from the auto destruct. You're rampage will span all across the Alpha Quadrant, from DEEP SPACE NINE, to STARFLEET HEADQUARTERS and beyond. CO-OPERATIVE PLAY ------------------ Aliens have taken over Risa! The Enterprise has been taken over and sealed off! The USS PENTAGON, you're ship, has been invaded! You and the only remaining crew aboard the bridge grab your spare phasers. The captain activates the auto destruct for 13 hours and you all set out to kick some alien butt, following the path described in single player.
