Classes

The Russian Front will feature many player classes. When you enter a game, you first select with side to play on, then you have to chose a class. Each class will have different qualities, different strengths and weaknesses. Here are a few of the classes available to you:

Commander - Kommander/Commander
Commanders carry light weapons and are realitvely fast. A commander is a very valuable addition to the team. He is able to communicate with all troops and may also call for artillery strikes (max 2 per level). The commander is also able to "inspire" troops within a certain distance. The presence of a commander will stop friendly players from getting tired.

Light Infantry - Schutzen/PPSH Shock Troop
Light infantry units make up the brunt of the team. They are fast and carry close combat specific weapons. Light Infantry are used for many different tasks, from scouting, to heavy assault.

Heavy Infantry - Kampfsassel/Combat Engineers
Heavy infantry carry heavy machine guns and a host of other weapons. They are slow in combat, but deadly when in position. A heavy unit with a good line of site and a well placed machine gun can dominate a position for a very long time. Heavy Infantry should avoid close combat melees where possible as they are slow to manouver.

Sniper - Scharfschutzen/Sniper
Snipers rely on speed and surprise to keep them alive. They carry highly powerful, accurate rifles, and are capable of picking off the main elements of an attacking force from great distances. A good sniper will remain in a well covered position, with a good line of sight, for hours before being spotted.

Medic - Sanitater/Medico
Medics are classed as non-combatants, however they still carry "defensive" weapons. A medic may either attach himself to a team and provide on the spot relief for wounded comrades, or he may remain in the field hospital within HQ and let the wounded come to him. Medical supplies are kept in the field hospital. Though medics are classed as non-cambatants, they are easy targets and usually some of the first to fall. Killing medics was seen as a brutal act on most fronts.

Scout - Auflager/Scout
Scouts are the fastest of all units. They are armed with submachine guns and smoke grenades. Scouts are used to investigate enemy positions and secure important areas before the main force arrives.
