The FIRST thing you should do if DirectQ crashes

Despite my best efforts DirectQ may sometimes crash.

This sucks, but there is something easy, quick and painless that you can do before reporting it to me.

DirectQ is a Direct3D9 application, but you should never assume that if you have Direct3D10 or 11 that you also have the most up to date version of Direct3D9.

Direct3D10 was first released in late 2006, Direct3D11 was first released in late 2009, but Microsoft kept releasing updates to Direct3D9 after both of those dates. These updates are not included on either Windows Vista or Windows 7, and just having Direct3D10 or 11 may not be enough.

The most recent update to Direct3D9 was released in February 2010 for example. There is probably - if things go on their usual schedule - another one due sometime in April 2010.

You can safely upgrade Direct3D9 without affecting either 10 or 11; they live in completely different system files on your machine.

You may not need to update. If DirectQ didn't crash as soon as you ran it, then you very probably don't. If it did crash though, you should.
