There may be (update: is) a change of plan

I think I'm probably going to release a 1.7.4 over the next week or two. I've just added a lot of really nice stuff to the 1.7.3 codebase (including the much demanded bestweapon) that has me wishing I had waited before releasing that version, and I really want to make this available to people. I also want to see can I get any luck with that NVIDIA rendering bug.

Look on it as a nice present that's going to be the 1.7.3 with all the stuff you want in it.

Update:

1.7.4 is definite. Currently adding lots of ProQuake server compatibility, including message parsing, %h/%a/%r/%l/etc formatting, .loc support, scoreboard ping and other stuff, ProQuake precise aim, and so forth. .loc files are EVIL - fscanf should burn in hell. OK, I accept that using plain text allows you to tweak the values subsequently, but binary is just so much easier (and less error-prone) to parse in a program (yes, I'm being incredibly selfish about this).

So who won the price and what did they get?

No idea! Whoever it was ain't saying. The prize though was the ZIP file without a change log in it (which they already got by downloading it...)
