hello.

I have a really old Power Mac 8500 from 1997 which has a Voodoo 5 5500 in it. Very nice card, but unfortunately the original Half-Life port for Mac was cancelled. I wonder if some early version of it exists somewhere... stashed on a long forgotten hard drive.
wow good news !
I'm interested in that early version and please note I'm not really a huge HalfLife fan ! Always preferred Unreal and Quake2..
so deleting opengl32.dll from game folder should make the game running with Opengl icd(full driver) in Windows/System folder !?
engine.exe (software rendering) works if you set 16-bit color mode in Windows settings.
It's much better than the GL version, HUD and decals work correctly, and there are particles.
You can duck. Airduct grates are not shootable but open like doors.
Some random redditor leaked a early Half-Life version 0.52.
A bin/cue is available at https://docs.google.com/folder/d/0B1G0L … 9OOU0/edit
A rip of the CD (the files) is available at http://www.mediafire.com/?b3b94pvx922kzpg
If you do not have a 3Dfx graphics card/drivers, you need to perform the good old "delete opengl32.dll" trick. Then it runs fine (at least on Wine). On the surface it seems like a fairly vanilla GLQuake but you cannot run the "valve" mod in a stock Quake engine properly. Included are some techdemo maps, demos and stuff. Definitely interesting for both Half-Life and Quake enthusiasts.
