you're the man, bfg666. i'm excited to play this pack! i usually play in quakespasm, (i wish reQuiem had better/modern support) but i'll have to give DP a run (after updating) to try out the scratch & grain/color blood.
Playing this map jam in DP, you might be interested in a very cool film scratch and grain shader made by Seven. You can grab it here: http://quakeone.com/news/site-news/1246 … eased.html
Check post #3 for the link. Read the readme for instructions. I suggest you reduce the settings by half: the effects are a bit too intense with the default values and they can impair clear vision in dark areas. In the same post, I also linked to an update for NewHouse's map and provided extra recommendations. All this will be featured in the final repack.
Good point, since I usually do not play with Darkplaces I did not update it.
If by "glitch" you mean textures that should have some transparency instead of a pinkish flat surface, that's because your DP isn't up-to-date. DP supports alpha masked textures since September 2016. Go to https://icculus.org/twilight/darkplaces/files/?C=M;O=D and download the latest autobuild at the very top of the list. There's a new autobuild made every day, so be sure to keep this link handy and update your DP every once in a while.
I played the maps with Quakespasm, but after reading your message I gave a spin with Darkplaces.
I suggest everyone to play the Noir jam with Darkplaces! While I got a strange glitch with some models (like the trees in the start map) in general the colored effects and red blood look wonderful against the monochrome world. In particular it's strongly suggested for One Ranger, Two boomsticks and Black Future.
You can have red blood by running it in Darkplaces (QuakeSpasm has grey blood because its particle system is subjected to the custom palette). For the blood and vore balls to be colored in any engine, it would require the custom palette to be modified again, and it simply won't happen. Sorry.
Is it possible to put red blood and colored Shalraths' balls in the Noir pack jam? I love the Noir idea, but I like spot colors there and there even more...
I did a repack of Map Jam 8. The upload might take a little time though because I wanted to add the theme music that I originally planned. I didn't have time to complete it for the original Func_ release, so I put it aside and it's still unfinished. I'm finishing it as fast as possible, so please have a little patience.
A bit behind on the updates these days, but here we go - there have been several new releases in the past two months:
Func Map Jam 8 - Film Noir theme
Five black&white/Noir-themed levels (including a start map) by ionous, NewHouse, Pritchard, Shamblernaut.
