Auto weapon switch toggle?

I know you switch weapons automatically by default but I prefer it off. What should I type in the config file to do this? I looked in the config file but it wasn't obvious to me what to modify (as my name Anoobis suggests, I am just starting to play Quake). I also play Doom with weapon switch off.

It is not implemented in game. However, it looks like you can disable it by deleting out a few lines from the code and recompiling the progs.dat, as mentioned here:

Is it possible to do this in QuakeSpasm-Spiked without recompiling RC?
