What are the most grandiose, epic, slaughtermaps ever made?

Hey folks.

I've played my fair share of custom maps, but never ran into many of this sub-genre, if I might call it that, in Quake.
Therefore, I'm interested to know what you guys think are the most jaw-dropping, awe-inspiring, tough-as-nails slaughtermaps ever created by the community.

That's the gist of it. Let me know your opinions.

Quake's relatively slow movement speed doesn't lend itself to this sort of gameplay compared to Doom. That said, check out Tronyn and skacky's maps if you haven't already (including mapjam releases). Especially: https://www.quaddicted.com/reviews/quck_demo2.html

Will do. I didn't know many of their maps. Thanks for the suggestion.

You're welcome. Also searching the database for 'horde' or 'hordes' will help you find maps with higher monster counts/density.

From memory: Tronyn maps, Marcher Fortress and Warpspasm. Marcher is not tough as nails but just tough so it should still work for you.

Thanks a lot, Cocerello. Great suggestions. I didn't know about kinn_marcher at all.

Kids these days, unbelievable! :D
Marcher is one of the most significant maps in the history of Quake mapping with super juicy horde fights.

About the history of Quake custom mapping, you can check https://www.quaddicted.com/articles/the … ronyn_2009 It is only missing the last age, marked with the practical disappearance of speed and turtlemaps and the appearance of'' every brick is a brush'' maps and even way longer maps.

For extra tough as nails check Drake https://www.quaddicted.com/reviews/?filtered=drake

Thanks a lot for all the support, guys.

There's no such thing as too much Quake. I'll make sure to plunge head-first into all this great content.

Already downloaded. It definitely looks insane, in a good way though.

Thanks, Ninja.
