Re: Quake in WebGL

Finally fixed that sad tab bug in Chrome. And also added stereo sound in Chrome.

Re: Quake in WebGL

Sorry for bumping. I added UDP to the dedicated server so you can join WebQuake servers with other clients (WinQuake, GLQuake) and play with WebQuake players on the same server.

Re: Quake in WebGL

That reminds me, I should setup a server! Maybe on the weekend. :)

You rock so much!

Re: Quake in WebGL

Spirit, did you kill WebQuake for traffic or what? Getting 403 on every game file.
Also can't connect to FTP because of ECONNREFUSED.

Re: Quake in WebGL

The host killed it for excessive load and I cannot host it there anymore.
I will direct the domain back to this server and that means you lose access to it again. Damn! :(

Re: Quake in WebGL

Apparently it got "1.4 million hits" today and that was too much (understandably for shared hosting). Was it linked somewhere prominently? I'll look at the logs tomorrow.

Re: Quake in WebGL

Redirecting them now. That's a lot of people. Let's see if this server is happier with the load. :)

Re: Quake in WebGL

Ok, thanks.

I wrote a post about WebQuake on Habrahabr, a VERY popular Russian IT site, and "habraeffect" pwned it.

Also, to what extent was progs.dat modified? Only fish count fix and "exited the level" thing? And I don't really like that cheats are bound to easily accessible keys.

This (1.06) + fish count fix.

Re: Quake in WebGL

In shareware pak0.pak, the progs.dat (404 kb, and my 0xd6-0xd5 at 0x26640 fish count fix applies correctly) doesn't display "player exited the level" in SP.

On now-dead webquake.quaddicted.com, I installed the shareware progs.dat with my fish count fix.

Re: Quake in WebGL

Awesome!

That server resets the controls to the stupid defaults though, would be nice to have it use a WASD layout or just not have keys in its config at all.

Re: Quake in WebGL

The server is temporary, it appears that Modulus isn't free and only gives a trial period. Maybe I'll switch to Appfog if it's completely free.

I don't know how can the server reset the controls, it never sends "bind" svc_command. However, I deleted your autoexec.cfg from the now-dead webquake.quaddicted.com, because of no proper way to look up and down, cheats bound to keys (it's hard to spot when you accidentally activate them), and it's not vanilla. But in /stuff/ the config is there.

Is webquake.quaddicted.com server still inaccessible?

Re: Quake in WebGL

Good point, I will make that autoexec.cfg suck less.

webquake.quaddicted.com ain't coming back (unless I simply point it to the current location but what's the point). :(

Maybe it's too late, but I added Retina and HUD browser zoom (as a web-friendly alternative for -conwidth) support to the port.

Don't you know, is there a way to install Internet Explorer 11 on Windows 8.0?

Re: Quake in WebGL

Could you disable HTTPS for WebQuake? Multiplayer doesn't work on insecure servers.

Re: Quake in WebGL

Just found this thread today.  I've been hosting the client for a few weeks (non ssl) here:
