An Old, Old Evil
"This is the remnants of a project Tronyn and Murderous Martin worked on in 1997. It contains modified weapons and monsters mainly, as well as some experimental effects."Barely an alpha version, slightly fixed up by aguirRe in 2006 - only listed here for archival purposes. The maps are unfinished and barely playable, either because they are bugged, lack monsters/gameplay, or are excessively hard. Furthermore, the cheat codes are disabled.
A few of the maps/areas eventually appeared in other projects by Tronyn, namely Soul of Evil and The Masque of Red Death. See anevil_readme.txt for more information.

Pretty interesting pack, even if it is hard; but i do think there are harder maps for Quake. I did like a lot the new monsters and weapons, specially the teleporting scrags and the crowned zombies, even though the new hell knights are too good at killing the player.
I completed all the levels, except Coven1. All in nightmare, except Cavern1.
Cavern1: This one was impossible for me in nightmare, as there isn't anywhere to run or hide i the first part. In this one the Quad cheat or monster infighting are needed. Even with that, i had to axe the scary shamblers.
Coven1: This one was interesting, nice non-linear layout and architecture with a feeling of episode 4. I couldn't finish it, i don't know where to go after i get 2 silver keys but have no use for any of them.
EP2M2: a very nice one, even those hell_kinghts don't ruin the fun factor too much. Nice layout and architecture, and some fun combats, like the Quad one or the dragon. I have to play Masque of Red Death as soon as possible.
Lagtown1: A nice architecture in this one, it made me remember of some UT DM maps. A pity there isn't monsters nor nothing to do.
Prison, in this one you need to use the cheat to get permanent Quad, because there isn't enough ammo, and the hell_knights can't be axed, as you get a lightning bolt if you try too. This makes the map more thrilling, as this cheat put your life at 1. The most interesting part was maybe the caves at the bottom.
Station2: This one needed a lot of tries, as you need to get the RL to clear this, but the path is blocked by 2 ogres that track you.

Regarding cavern1: In case of shadow exploshamblers that teleport into the big pentagram right after the death of the all-black fiend (Moonbeast), staying in the middle of that pentagram before killing fiend might help, but may end up with reduced potential of monster infighting. This ensures that all shamblers going to teleport into a pentagram become telefragged by presence of a player in teleport destination.
