As good as the author's "The Old City" (which is pretty good). Underrated and very enjoyable. The arquitecture can be surreal and random, but isn't that what Quake is about? Lighting and texture work is great.
I agree. This map has some surprising and interesting progression, with some good use of underwater passages in particular, and a satisfying amount of verticality and interconnectedness. Progression can be a bit cryptic at times, with a couple of semi-hidden shootable switches. Gameplay is solid with some nice fights here and there.
Overall a very worthy '97 map.
I agree, this is a great little map that is pretty smooth and plays longer than you'd think for the enemy count!
A true classic - one of the maps that i keep returning to. Too bad that M.C. Only have published this and "The old City" (old_city.zip).
Back in '97 this would have been a '5' - with the development of mapping, it is still a '4'.
