This is a phenomenal map, in fact better than Colony IMO, but why was there never a GMSP2?
It's almost impossible to overstate how great this map is. Every single thing about it is best-of-breed, from the architecture via the detailing to the monster placement, the secrets, and most important of all, the gameplay balance. There's a real sense of exploration, and enormous replayability. The Marcher Fortress might be a more impressive technical feat, but in terms of actual gameplay, Day of the Lords might be the single best Quake map ever.
You hear about this map a lot and for great reason. It is still stunning to this day in all categories. Just play it and experience what the elusive GlassMan has to offer!
Spectacular map from start to finish.
