Temple of Teuthis v3
Large underwater cave temple map, an overhaul of the previous version with new encounters, secrets, and difficulty settings implemented.Textures by Makkon. Uses the extras_r5 progs by Khreathor (already included). Custom music is "Falling through the Abyss" by Kirk Osamayo. Map source is included.
There's no custom start map; load the map manually via console: "map teuthis"
"An intense green glowing light next to a pad signals the presence of a lore element. These logs relate to events that took place before your arrival. 12 green squid statues have been (moderately) hidden throughout the map. Break them to unlock the final secret. Save often, as the extras mod has no autosave entity."
Note: probably requires a modern engine / source port with increased limits.

This is a good map... as mentioned earlier. Quite a good map, that has just been done over again.
Mr. Z. is a very good mapper; imagination, skills, the ability to tell a good story and so on. And the new version of this map is better than the previous one.
So why am i not quite happy?
The last version of this map was already very, very good. So why not use all this skill and imagination on something new instead of re-polishing and nitpicking old stuff?
That said, i really love all the details and the ideas in this map. Like the melting-down reactor in the sub. The myriads of secrets. The library. The throne room. The....
I haven't found all the secrets yet. I better have another go. Mr. Z, thanks for your efforts, and thanks for sharing!
This is something. Play it. 5 stars (well maybe 4.5, it's a lil bit tedious later on)
Probably the best water-based map out there (and one of the best in general). The visuals are absolutely stunning, from the brushwork to the lighting, especially the use of colored lighting. The opening underwater area of the map especially is just insane. There are all sorts of details, from drilling machines to bottles of wine, that give the map a real sense of place, and I love the way it transitions from water to blood/meat the closer you get to the end. The encounters are challenging and fun, taking into account what the map is trying to accomplish as more of a story/journey than a sequence of combat puzzles per se. There are lots of little elegant design touches that you'll notice throughout in terms of the player's pathing/where they're being led without being 'explicitly' led. This is also one of the entries in Zbidou72's continuous storyline with Null Bearing, VAB, and Twilight Meridian, which I absolutely love. I hope to see more narrative-based maps in the future. Also, I loved finding the secrets! This is a must-play.
