Urantia
Small sewer map with Petersen-ian "backroom" vibes and some Makkon textures for vanilla Quake. Custom music is Secret From The River by Repulsive."Urantia is a map I started as a way to practice Trenchbroom for fun and a bit for Godot, because I am interested in creating projects with the engine. In short, the map was going to be a backrooms level but the more I try to make a Backrooms map and explore what has been done, I prefer to distance myself from the concept.
Urantia takes place in a water purifier facility, where the god (Shambler) Urantia is leading the water experiments behind it, guarded by her knights. The map was always aimed to be short and I decided to split away from the Sandy Petersen formula of putting traps and tricking the player, altho it has “some” of it (this is because i did this in my first 3 maps and i was new into making Quake maps).
There is a more detailed .docx inside the file."

Nice little 'First map' ! Again a new mapper with potential!
The map is a bit 'square', but with quite nice lighting, and a very neat bit of mood-setting music. I wonder what this will lead to in the future....
May i humbly recommend:
Please keep file- and folder names lowercase
please stick to the 'txt' format in the documents
Quake is not only played on Microsoft, but also on Linux, Apple/Mac, tablets and cellphones and even on some very exotic systems. The above recommandations are just to make it equally easy for everyone...
Welcome aboard; i expect to see interesting things in the future! Thanks for your efforts, and thanks for sharing!
nice QC reference
Quite an interesting little first map. I liked the overall bleak atmosphere of the dark halls and the music. Even if I could tell from the quality of the brushwork that it is a first map, it was still interesting to explore and to discover the quirks and secrets.
Combat was easy and not very engaging, comprising of single enemy varieties in small or large groups, with little verticality involved. The rocket launcher, while providing some catharsis, would've been better off being secret. The shambler fight would've also benefited from having less space between the player and the shambler, to make the fight more intimate and intense.
If you're going to keep on mapping, I'd recommend paying extra attention to improving combat. Otherwise, good job on your first published map, and I'm looking forward to seeing more!
It is a nice little map that flows well and respects the players time.
The secrets are very reasonable to find if you are attentive to the surroundings.
I like that the enemy placement make infighting an option to solve the combat problem. It is always good to highlight that quake and doom were more than just "dumb" shooters as they are sometimes described. There is actually a bit more mechanics going on under the hood with them.
I also like that you wrote a small story setting description and how you keep your scope manageable and finish projects neatly.
Wish I was this good at not letting things get out of hand during creation.
Keep them spirits high and keep creating "thumbs up"
Pretty fun map to play and also a nice first map.
amazing i speedrun it
