This client allows you to communicate via Internet Relay Chat networks.
To use IRC, first make yourself able to use it by typing this into the console:
/bind p messagemodeirc
Now by pressing key [p] during the game you chat on IRC or type IRC commands (starting with slash '/') or you can use irc command in the console (in such case use irc say ... to chat)
Quick tutorial: this is what you type into the irc chat line to connect to IRC, join channel and chat there.
/connect
/join #quakeworld
hi, I'm chatting using my QuakeWorld client!
Note: If you are using same nick in your QW client as in your already running standalone IRC client, you will get nick collision on connect :-) In such case just type this after connect:
/nick youralternick
Other commands: quit, query, say, nick + all standard IRC commands. Also check /cvarlist_re irc_
To choose which window (channel / user) you want currently talk to, either in messagemodeirc typing use [page up] / [page down] or in console use /irc window next; irc window prev; irc window close
