Emph, why not just make the site in Flash? (... pause for sarcasm recognition ...) Can we get a less megabytey mode, with real text? 
This isn't just a reflex, by the way. I hope it's a phase. Most people eventually realize that using text text is the right idea. Don't let "design" interfere with usefulness! (And sorry, I didn't look at much of your site, mostly since I'm on rationed bandwidth.)
