Any one feel
like a dip? Once you slip into The Ancient Aqueduct with your waterproof
shotgun (a Quake special feature) you will believe that you have been transported
into another world. Roger has created a fascinating world that is highly
immersive (no pun intended). His blending of Quake styles and themes drips
with originality. While Roger indicates in his readme file that there is
no story per se, it plays like a movie. The underwater construction, well
heck the entire construction feels like it could be a real place.
"The aqueduct
is split into 3 colour coded sectors, finish red sector to move onto green
and complete green to move onto Blue. I enjoy finding secrets in levels
so I placed in 6 for your amusement" -Roger Staines
When I played
it I appreciated those six secrets (good luck finding them all), they came
in oh so handy. I also completed this level without using the nailgun.
Not because I am a pro it was only because I did'nt find it! I would make
a great sniper with a shotgun :-)
Well if you
have not played this one yet you really should. Despite how it sounds the
underwater sequences are minimal, but the fun and gameplay is maximum.
Come on in, the waters fine. |
This aint'
your pool at the YMCA. Hmmm, mighty big filter skimmers they use here too.
Now aint'
that a pretty sight. I feel kinda like I am in Rome Did you know that the
Babylonians and Egyptians built large scale undergound aqueducts but the
Romans preferred a row of arches (like this one here) supporting the channels
along which water flowed downhill from mountains to cities.See Quake is
educational as well as fun!
