"This is a preview of a level pack called Age of panic, which will be out in a couple of weeks, hopefully. It is a small map, but it will most certainly be fun to play."
~J.F. Gustafsson

With experience as a Quake1 level author, J.F. Gustafsson now turns his attention to Quake2.

"Bring On The Pain" aka (Bring the pain, Age of panic1 Preview) is a very enticing slice of gameplay leaving you wanting the full level pack pie. Gustafsson is able to create a distinctive look to his work as well as a lived in grittyness missing from so many other levels.

Architecture is an interesting blend of large connecting drain pipes, water filled pools, cathedral arches, cramped box filled hallways and a large open great hall. Gustafsson is able to take this variety and meld it into a believable atmospheric setting. One thing he clearly has is a sense of style. The better mappers have it and Gustafsson convincingly demonstrates that he has plenty of it too.

Gameplay is quick and relatively easy. Ammo is in good supply although at times you will find yourself in the low 30's in the health department.

Your field computer is not in use for this level, funny how you miss those quirky messages from time to time.

Stylish great looking lived in level.
Too short, as a preview it will leave you wanting more, as a level it will leave you unfulfilled.
This is a fine preview of what could be THE level pack.

Cathedral type arches add a dash of character

Best get your tetanus shot before you scrape yourself on all of this rusting metal.

The centerpiece of the level, the great hall
