"Makron is dead, in the eternal struggle for power in the strogg society leads us to believe that an ancient installation has been retrofitted and made operational. Doing so the Warlord Angron hopes to gain power and command. The installation is a great threat to future operations and should be destroyed. An advanced search and destroy team is missing. Your mission is to destroy the installation"~Jonas N.P. Lindstrom

With the impressive Sadlark series for Quake1 (see The Palace of Sadlark, Temple of Amon-Sadlark, The 4 Runes of Sadlark among others) under his belt Jonas now turns his creative juices loose on Quake2. With Quake1 Jonas was able to take the standard themes and create magnificent egyptian and inca styled pyramids filled with clever traps and exciting gameplay. Now with Quake2 Jonas takes the usual base styled look and creates a seemingly ancient massive solid stone and iron fortress complete with retro electronic gadgetry.

Destroying this installation is a treat. The architecture is simply astounding. The stone and iron look helps to create a very believable setting. It also serves to make this level (actually two separate Bsp's) very distinctive and original from anything being independently produced for Quake2 currently. The sophisticated electronics which look futuristic in the traditional base styled map seems somehow more akin to 50'ish Buck Rodgers camp. Aaaah, a map with character, thank you Jonas.

Gameplay is fun with interactive tasks to accomplish (flip switches, retrieve power cubes, open hatches). Combat is tough and furious, but health and weaponry are available in abundance which enables you to concentrate on inflicting maximum carnage, you can always backtrack and scoop up that bypassed health if need be.

Angron Installation is a must download and fills a much need stylistic niche' missing from Quake2. Now if we can only convince Jonas to treat us to a series of Angron maps like he did with the Sadlark series.

Fresh original look stands out in a world populated with look alike maps.
Hmmm, perhaps those who get disoriented in maze-like sections might be a bit put off in some of the hallways.
An absolute blast of stylistic fresh air. A must download!

Strutting practice underway within a courtyard of the ancient Angron Installation
Gorgeous build and lighting. Enough inspiration here for even the most inept to try their hand at editing.
An almost castle quality fortress look.
