Mission
Objective: After being smuggled into Strogg territory in a cargo container,
your mission is to infiltrate the Strogg base, reprogram their Defence
computer and launch 4 of their own missiles at their own Comm Center. When
you've done this, you must go to the destroyed site in a Logistical Train
and rendezvous with a drop ship. Simple huh. You're gonna get a hurt a
lot. This is Strogg Central, it aint no picnic. ~Marty Howe
"Heroic
Bloodshed" is a complete adventure. Your mission begins with you blasting
your way out of the cargo container that you have used to smuggle yourself
into the Strogg compound. Upon exiting you have a chance to gawk at the
size of this installation. Your first look has you craning your neck at
a tall and imposing fortress built into the side of a cliff face with walkways
looming overhead. At the foot of the cliff are two Strogg ship and a large
"dam like" wall cordoning off the other half of the base. Making your way
around small mountains of cargo containers and Strogg personal you eventually
gain entrance, and then the fun really begins.
Marty,
author of such Quake1 maps as "Horror Erotique", has created quite an exciting
map. Launching the missiles and watching them lift off while the ground
shakes and tosses you around is quite fun.
Once
the missiles are launched you then make your way through the twisted wreckage.
It's quite fun taking a look at the damage that you have created and also
negotiating the slabs of concrete and twisted metal on your way to the
waiting drop ship.
Gameplay
is fun with a few puzzles to solve along the way. Combat is challenging
and there are enough new sites to see to hold your interest through to
the end.
