Welcome to this month's Top Ten List. A few changes of note. Number one has stayed the same for a second month in a row, but the number two and three spots are now held by two maps that make their debut appearance in the top ten.
Dropping off the Top Ten list this month are last month's number nine map - Fatal Opportunity by YooShin Yang and last month's number ten map - Water Works by Doug Magee.
Okay Lt. Dan take it away.

Top 10 List
#1 The Azure Mine James Parkman #1 2

James fourth and best map to date...  The Azure Mine is the sequel to his previous map The Bloodshrine...  The amount this map author improved from his first release is unbelievable...  I would like to say I told you so though ;]...

#2 What The End Is For Carson Utz      1

This at the time of release was and still is the most stunning map I've seen...  The tricks and traps in this one reminded me a lot of Doom... Quite simply the most fun I've had playing a single map...

#3 The Powersphere Quest Cedar Kraus
        1

This was quite simply the most fun I've ever had playing an add on...  It has quality of a professional game company and then some...  I just can't remember a unit in Quake2 being as good...  Make sure you read the text file before playing...

#4 Infiltrate:: Subjugate::
Eliminate
Matt Sefton #3          2

What do you say about Matt's work other than very professional...  Matt has never made a bad map in my opinion, something I can't even say about my favorite map author's...  Matt's first Quake2 map is no exception...  Solid design, excellent balance and a lot of fun...  I guess the only thing that keeps Matt just off my short list of favorite author's is I'm still waiting for a little more of Matt's style and a little less of id's...

#5 Versicolor Vermination Roger Staines         #2          2

Finally one of my favorite Quake 1 map author's releases a map...  Although a few other of the SPQ webmasters were saying typical ACE style, I don't think so...  Although monster placement was used in typical ACE style the actual design was Quake2 style...  I am used to seeing something unusual in an ACE map like an upside-down room or a building rising from the water...  I believe Roger was out to build a Quake2 style map and a Classic at that...

#6 KSP70 Kurt Kowitz         #4        2

After reading the text file and seeing this was another author first release I didn't get real excited about it...  Boy was I wrong this was excellent work for a first release of any kind...  I'm looking very forward to more of Kurts work...

#7 Vostok Rising Ed Cope        #5        2

Here's another guy that does excellent work and both of his Quake2 maps are no exception...  Vostok Rising a very good map with excellent story line, albeit a bit easy...  I think my favorite of Ed's is still The Gib Factory...  By the way Ed Big Congrats on your new job at Revenant...

#8 Abandon all Hope James Parkman       #7        2

The first Big release from James this one made all the SPQ pages...  I couldn't believe the improvement from his first map...

#9 Incarceration Greg Barr       #6        2

This was the first map I rated in the 90's and it's too bad we only got one SPQ map from Greg before he was hired by Raven Software...  I guess he'll be working on Heretic II now...

#10 Arkanian Mike Daugherty       #8        2

This one was a lot of fun...  It was also quite a challenge be sure you conserve that ammo...  This is one of a very few user maps you'll fight the final boss of Quake2 in...
