Pics of the Day

So, you think you have a cool or wildly hilarious pic of the day? Awesome! But before you send it, there are some things I need you do.

Unfortunately, most TFC shots I receive are, depending on your resolution, over a megabyte in size. This isn't too big a deal, but I am stuck on a cheap little modem and it takes a bit of effort to get all the pics downloaded before I hit my ten minute e-mail timeout. :)

First off, If you have a graphical compression program, please take the time to convert the picture to a medium quality gif or jpg. You generally do not loose any image quality, and it is a MAJOR reduction on the file size. (and hey, this is good for you too if you are on a modem!)

If you are not quite ready for the challenge of image manipulation, there is another option! Simply zipping the file generally reduces the image quite nicely. Most of the time reducing the file size up to 80 percent.

Don't think that this is a requirement of sending the pics. These are just a few tips to help your upload time, and save myself some download time. I love getting pic submissions, they really are one of the highlights of my day. If I do not use your pics, please do not be angry. I generally receive somewhere around 15-20 pics a day. And the math just doesn't seem to be in our favor ;)

Enough of my babbling. Send those pics!!!

Thanks!
- The Warthog
