I just dropped by Scatterblak.com and took note of one of the headings for an update. Check last updates, little phrase, then hop over there and see if you can find the matching idea. On the same note, I just watched Chasing Amy last night. Another good movie from the same writer and director, I believe. So I've seen Clerks, Chasing Amy, Mallrats, and now I just need to see Dogma to finish that uhm... quadilogy(?) Also, those of you who had to sit through Scream 3 will have noticed that Jay and Silent Bob have a cameo as tourists at the set of Stab 3.

Ramblin' Man

I really don't have much news other than the stuff thats days or weeks old, so instead I'm going to win you over with my wit and charm by talking about various non-essentials. I just checked out a bunch of new bands, and I gotta say I'm starting to like Morphine, even though the band leader has died, and they're no longer a band. In a totally non-related issue, I'm almost done with my second trimester here. Yes I'm pregnant. It must have been one of the prison guards during the strip searches who did it... No, you fool! My college, RIT (and I say "my college" because I actually built the entire thing by hand) runs on a trimester system instead of semesters. So anyways, Finals are coming, but I'll have more free time, so I might not neglect this site as much as I have been. Then, of course, I might just waste my free time playing The Sims instead. By the way, that game is really cool, but I suggest starting off as a bachelor, not with the couple or the family. It takes a while just to be able to manage a single person let alone a bunch of them. They're needy little bastards.
I wonder how many high school girls qualify for the nickname "Finger Cuffs"

I've decided yet again to update the page. I have no clue how I got up to like 28 hits here, because all of 3 people know that I've been updating. Maybe I've been sleepwalking and loading up my site at the wee hours of the morn. Also, if anyone has been longing to become a good samaritan, here's your chance. Muse - Showbiz is on sale under the support my CD addiction link. Only $8.38 folks! So ya know, if you a good $10 burning a hole in your pocket, you could just buy that one for me there....

Team Assault

It came to my attanetion that their is a second group making a TF mod for Q3A, called Team Assault. The map screenshots are rather impressive. I hope that CZ turns out true to the original. On another note, somebody code Q3A support for Quark, please. I wanna try my hand at Q3A mapping.

Movies

I managed to finally see all of Clerks yesterday. Rather funny movie. I didn't really dig the whole black and white deal there, there wasn't much need for it as far as I could tell. So now I've seen Mallrats and Clerks. I'm going to have to see Dogma too, to carry on the tradition. Check this one out if you're not easily offended and have no one like that in the crowd within earshot.

Music

More CD's(!):
  • Muse - Showbiz *****
  • Primus - Antipop *****
  • Stone Temple Pilots - No. 4 *****
I own all of the above, except Muse (see above). I've heard Muse quite a few times as two of my closest friends have it. They're a bit like Radiohead. Very cool music, highly recommended. Primus' newest is their best in my opinion. Very cool stuf, I especially enjoy Electric Eclectic. Reminds me of Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon or The Wall. Lastly, STP's newest isn't as good as their previous stuff. It's a lot rawer and scratchy sounding. There's a few good tracks on it like Down, Sex and Violence, and No Way Out.
37! Thats quite a number.

Breaking News!

I just reached a milestone folks. Xtreme just sent me the screenshot of my 10th hit!
I'd like to thank all my loyal fans for supporting me through the years. I'd like to thank the academy for this award, Uhm, I'd also like to thank the-man-upstairs for letting me share my gift with others. And most of all I'd like to thank all 10 of you out there who truly made this possible.

Another update within the same month, there's obviously something afoot in the world.

Q3Fortress

I received an email from the Q3Fortress team a little bit ago (surprisingly they sent me TF news, when all else had given up on me!), and I zipeed on by their site for a perusal. Their screenshots have me a tad bit excited here. I must say that TF would look quite nice in the Q3A engine. Anyways, I received word from them again, and they have some screenshots of map cconversions that are in progress. So hurry on up and beam yourself over to their site.

Movies

I went to see the new flick Down to You, (with a female, of course). Typical chick flick meant for teens. Sadly there was no nudity, beheadings or bending of spoons with the mind. One of the lead's friends was a porn star, though, so I suppose that redeemed the movie somewhat. My final analysis: feign illness when your beloved asks you to see it with her.

Music

I just checked out these CD's:
  • Marcy Playground - Shapeshifter *****
  • Foo Fighters - The Colour and the Shape *****
  • KoRn - Issues *****
  • Incubus - Make Yourself *****
Once again, I own all of the above. Marcy Playground is neat for just playing in the background. It's a bunch of songs about nothing all too important. Foo Fighters is more emotional than you'd expect to hear after hearing Dave's self-titled CD, and the new one, There's Nothing Left To Lose. The songs are better on this one than the new CD, but lack the energy of the first CD, in my mind. KoRn's new release is weel, more of KoRn but they sound almost...as if they're selling out. Not hardcore enough for me, after listening to their three preceding albums. Lastly, Incubus' CD just kicks total ass. It's like a 90's rock band, with a great singer and sweet DJ. I'm planning to catch them with System of a Down on the Snow-core tour.
"What do you see? you see an ass-head of your own, do you?"

Much to your dismay I haven't kicked the bucket, I just kind of got lost in *gasp* Real Life. There will be a few changes around here. They are as follows:
  • I update infrequently, as I see fit.
  • I ramble on about whatever I feel like, and it will likely have nothing to do with Team Fortress.
  • I take cash donations, remember I'm just a poor college kid, so be generous.
So anyways, here's today's update.

Quake3Arena: Why it rocks my world.

I've tried Unreal Tournament, I've tried Quake3Arena. In my estimation Q3A kicks UT's ass because I'm more of a DM purist. The "Damage Amplifier" just doesn't get my juices flowin' like a good ole' Quad damage. Not to mention gravity changes are a neat novelty, but annoy the shit outta me once I've been floating over the same 4 buildings for, oh say... the thousandth time. Plus Q3A's textures are just so damned sexy. C'mon now, we all know you guys drool over the new graphic enhancements of the engine, and rightfully so. I will say this about Q3A, though, the BFG10K seems oddly out of place.

Music

I highly reccomend the folowing CD's:
  • For Squirrels - Example *****
  • Rage Against the Machine - Battle of L.A. *****
  • Chevelle - Point #1 *****
  • Metallica - S&M *****
Yes, I now own all of the above. The bands you may not know so well would be For Squirrels and Chevelle. Both CD's are very kick ass alternative/rock CD's. Hard to describe, but if you were into all the one-hit wonder bands of the mid-early nineties, For Squirrels had a single out called Mighty KC, and this is the CD it's on.

On another note, I'm happy MTV is at least dedicating a half hour to the "Return of Rock." Finally we get to see some cool rock tunes on MTV. I'm really diggin' Powerman 5K - Nobody's Real, Incubus - Pardon Me, and Static-X. I got to see Chevelle, Dope, Static-X and Sevendust at a club here a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, Chevelle started early and I only heard their last song (!^&*\#%). Dope blows my left nut. Static-X was incredible, if you see them make sure you're rather large and physically fit or you're gonna get trounced, and Sevendust was good considering I really didn't like the band before that night and I managed to listen to their stuff without getting a migraine.

Other Stuff

Uhm...I got a laser tag set for Christmas which I am dying to use. Yes I'm 18, and yes I still like kiddie toys. I'm not too ashamed to admit it.

I saw Toy Story 2 and Man on the Moon recently. Toy Story 2 was better than the first and I'm gonna have to buy the tape when they release it. Man on the Moon was good, but then I idolize Andy Kaufman so you normal people may not like it.

And that concludes today's ramblings. Tune in next bat week, same bat time same bat channel.

Stalkers' Corner tm
Ok, so you see I've been busy and stuff, but like I just might do something constructive sometime soon, really. Oh and here's an update on the previous list of activities. The data unit is done and I'm about 22% through with my second one here, so perhaps I'll find something more than a nice highly processed chunk of nothingness in this unit. Man imagine if you were the one to actually get the data unit that found E.T. I bet you'd get laid all the time. and you could write a novel about how you bravely downloaded SETI and got the right data unit. Hmm, that'd be kinda short, but you could beef it up with IRC logs of various TFers being retards. So anyways, thats that. Plus I'm officially done with school. I took my exams and all that, and now I just have the graduation ceremony Thursday. I'll be expecting presents from you hoes. Scatterblak, Sentinel, and the entire crew of BTEG especially.
Ok, what else? Uh, oh the senior paper is obviously done along with my required volunteer work. For the stalkers in the crowd, the report required us to relate an author's works with his/her life. Everyone else was ghey and chose Shakespeare and Steinbeck and Fitzgerald. I, of course, went for Stephen King. So I wrote 8 pages about how he was twisted and a geek as a kid.
Oh and the pimpage is coming along nicely now. So thats all good.

Damned Straight, my man
Allright well I hate agreeing with Sentinal/No Kami on most everything because it just is too fun to get in arguments with him. Anyways, I ahve to agree. There's no really good sites around anymore. All the good TF sites have died and are now rotting on their DNS's. What the hell happened to the good sites like Keeg's and the Tree? You got news and pretty colors and all sorts of stuff. Now you just surf and you get a choice. Straight-forward news, or sites about nothing in general. What I wouldn't give for a sCary of TF. I mean Blue's News is cool and all, but sCary just owns you all. Anyways what I'm trying to say is, Potato revive the Tree, we need it. Scat, crack the whip and get your newsies posting. And GibKeeg, where in God's name did you go to?
Oh well, if that doesn't work out then I'll just have to pick fights with members of the community to revive my interest....

Stuff that doesn't suck

Procrastination's the key!
I'm in the mood for a fairy tale. So here goes one of my favorite contemporary classics...

Once upon a time, there was a lad named Chris. He was an intelligent fellow and had a variety of interests. This boy, however, had a terrible time keeping himself on track. He would constantly put things off, break promises, and lag behind in his schoolwork. All the adults around him told him what a "lazy ass" he was, and how he was so "dissapointing to see someone so smart, put so little effort into his work." Now Chris, being the laid back man he was, took this all in stride. He postponed his homework, delayed his Detail Duty, and loitered on his level. And then all of a sudden it hit him all at the same time. He had to take final exams, make up his school work, do his mandatory volunteer work, write his senior paper, finish his promised map, pimp it to his girl, idle in IRC, find aliens, and update his webpage. All within the small timeframe of 2 - 3 weeks. So Chris buckled down and he set himself to doing these tasks. As of today he is still doing these tasks. As you read this he is updating his page. He's done with his finals. He's made up most of his homework. He's slowly pimping it. He's done 12 hours of volunteer work. He's 11% done in his search for Aliens. He's idling in IRC. And lastly, he has begun the slow process of writing his senior paper. Within 2 weeks all this shall be done, I say. And he'll live happily ever after.....

Havoc
I decided the map was close enough to plop the bases together and give her a playtest whirl. Unfortunately Mr. QBSP didn't like that and now I got a leak. When I get some free time I'll try and find it, but it makes no sense that it created one...

Pimpage
These people own you, or will soon own you. You must worship them:
Potato[CE]
Scatterblak
Cableless
Albatross
Ratchet
Yasmine Bleeth

That is all.

Unofficial "Official" Channel
I feel like being an ass today so....

Today I receieved in my mailbox the usual assortment of spam, and mailing list emails. One of these lists being the Planetfortress editors' mailing list. So I quickly scanned the few emails to get the gist of them and bam I hit a strnage one. Apparently there is now a #planetfortress on GamesNet. But there is more to it my friends...
Anywho, a couple people were confused why the various PF people had never heard of this so-called "official" channel. Spif replies that he hasn't heard about it, so there seems to be a problem. Anyways while doing this I was in #tfbarandgrill (go there now dammit) and decided to check out this channel. So I hop in and it's me Chanserv and [MM]Sniper. Obviously [MM]Sniper started this channel, as he's the only one there and a few people said so in the various emails. So I hop in and see this incredible scene of lameness, proclaim "mad ghey" and leave. A minute later Sniper msg's me with simply a question mark.
I proceed to enumerate the extreme gayness of starting an official PF channel without actually telling the guys at PF and the fact that he hasn't even done anything for PF yet. I was calm and polite, yet I recieve a hardy "um, go fuck yerself asshole". So I get a little perturbed but maintain my cool...
I explain to him it IS my business after he tells me to mind my own. I then try to email him a copy of the complaint from PF's mailing list and Spif's reply (both sent to me on the PF mailing list, which our friend [MM]Sniper isn't on). I get accused of being the guy who sent the complaint and making up Spif's reply. OK, sure buddy.
So this continues for a little bit, and he decides he can't deal with reality so he quickly bans me, a PF member, from PF's super-leet "official" channel. But I am not the first PF member to be banned you see. Sailorfrag was also apparently banned, another PF member. Oops and hypor too. There's 3.
So a few buds of mine in #tfbarandgrill hop on over and begin to tell Sniper how lame he really is, and they quickly also get banned. That'd be Pennywise and Sex. I ask about this lad, and apparently he's also got a bone to pick with Jeff and Bowdown.
Here's a small excerpt from the man, the myth, Sniper:

<[MM]Sniper> gee
<[MM]Sniper> let me guess
<[MM]Sniper> u guys are here because of UnCoolGuy
<Engineer> I'm here because I'm hateful and unfriendly
<[MM]Sniper> then go away

Quick-witted he is. I am still reeling from that original and ingenious play on my online nick. Ouch, really. Anyways, the moral of the story is: [MM]Sniper is a fucktwit and should be publically flogged. And on that note here's the conclusion to our meeting...
<CPF|SgtCoolGuy> because people were asking why there was an official IRC chan for PF when
they weren't informed, and then Spif replied that he didn't even know you started it
<[MM]Sniper> well I have
<[MM]Sniper> and I haven't seen him on ICQ since I did, thats y I have not conteacted him
<[MM]Sniper> email is to non live
<[MM]Sniper> hard to argue..
<CPF|SgtCoolGuy> uhm
<CPF|SgtCoolGuy> sure

Update
Forgot a few things last time. PF already has an official channel at irc.planetfortress.com #planetfortress. Also, #planetfortress on GamesNet is now so l33t that it's invite only. Exclusive channel, you know, can't have these wayward IRC people stumbling in.

Ok, now Sniper is really cool. Guess what? I've just been disconnected by a "connection reset by peer" error about 6 times in a row, and I finally get in and the same thing's happening to my partner in crime, Pennywise. Bam, there goes Penny again, then Jeff, then me again. "Mad ghey"

Summer Home
Hey all, here I am just back from my summer home (or cottage, for you uncivilized brutes, like myself), and I must say it was somewhat refreshing. Got a little sun, or rather a little sunburn. Popped in the docks, the boat, hoist and all that jazz. So this marks the point where I will now mysteriously appear over the weekends. Which leads me to....

New Sidekick?
Hmm, it appears Ratchet has made not one, but two updates here. Perhaps he'd be willing to help out some over the summer? :P

Map Update
Got a semi-playable version of Havoc finally built. R_speeds are a tad high, but I'm fixing that. there's stilla crashing bug with the scoring, so I gotta get that worked out. Took me forever to find a way that works realistically without crashing HL everytime a computer was destroyed in the control center. Now it just crashes if multiple computers are destroyed at the exact same time....

Ratchet seys: Mappin' ain't easy!
I give full credit to all those mappers out there that can make a map and not only make it look good but play good as well. All? Hell, theres only a small handfull of them. The only map that comes close to worthwhile with TFC now is Darkness... though I did see some "works in progress" by the Sarge here and PlagueBearer at Scats. Both are very close to final compile I think. My map certainly won't make anyone jump for joy or anything, but I can humbly say that at least its better than 90% of whats available from the public now. Unfortunatly I haven't goten around to it much lately but I hope to get back at it today sometime.

Not much else going on...
