Radium's Map Site?
- Greenshorts
Hello, I'm Greenshorts, member of the former San Clan which few people have heard about. Anyway, I wanted to make a request to PlanetFortress. Sometime around the first semester of '99 Radium's Web page shut down. It was a rather depressing event, because its map archive was unarguably the best ever seen by TFC vets. However, for a while after he closed it, the web site remained there so we could get maps off it. However, a few months later, I tried to enter the site and it was no more.

My request, therefore, is that (if you can) you restore Radium's site so gamers can once again enjoy the full extent of its contents.
DieHard: Radium left the GSI networks (our host) and he removed his site from our servers. We do have several other map reviewing sites that give a pretty good review. The The Complex and JMC's TF Map Zone are two good sites. We also have other sites that have maps and map reviews. On PlanetFortress.com's left menu bar, we have a section for maps.

CL_Flush Entity Packet...
- Carl and Becky
Hi guys, whats the deal with this, and is there anyway I can fix this problem. We get it all the time and I just freeze in place and get killed. Sometimes after a few minutes, it will free up and I can resume play, but it comes back. PLEASE give me some advice.
HardCharger: Well... I have personally encountered this problem, and there are a couple of steps I have taken to try and fix it... Depending on what kind of connection you are one, you can adjust some variables in your config.cfg file to cut down on it... You should make sure that any settings weren't changed, and if so, you can try and adjust em back. Also, you can try and ping the servers you are playing on, to see if you have some bad "hops" inbetween you and the server... Check out Neotrace for some info on that.
DieHard: Valve is currently working with a handful of server admins and they plan on resolving the problem in the next patch. So until then we have to just sit tight, and do what we can...

Console Problems
- Ulf Hansson
When I started playing TFC my console button worked perfectly. Then all of a sudden it went away. The button next to 1 dosnt work. But when I play counter-strike it works. Any ideas why this happened. I tried to restore default settings on buttons but i still cant bring down the console.
HardCharger: Hmm... Ok... First thing I would do is check the TFC shortcut by rightclicking on it, then selecting Properties... In the box that says Target, make sure that you have -console in there after the HL.exe. Also, you can check your config.cfg file in the HalfLife/TFC folder and make sure you have your tilde (~) key and the (`) key bound to "toggleconsole".
Slick: Check your autoexec.cfg in your tfc folder, and make sure it says: console "1". If it's set to "0" the console is disabled.

A Good Game of TFC?
- LtSplatteryPants
Oh, dear. The once immensely satisfying experience of TFC is becoming frustrating thanks to the rotten few. I refer to those who set out merely to frustrate their teammates by spawn blocking, which I've seen on two maps in particular. On 2fort spies 'feign death' in the exit door of the right side spawn. It's impossible to exit or shift the spy, unless you can call a truce and get an enemy to blast him out. In Rock the grenade room spawn is a popular spot for the maladjusted to build an sg in the doorway and then camp on the ladder. It's enough to enrage Forrest Gump and I wonder if there is a solution. In Counterstrike problem players can be voted out, but I'm not aware of such a function in TFC. The server admins seem to be absent from these games, so there's no help from them. The problem seems to be increasing and I'm starting to lose interest because of it - it's tantamount to deliberate TKing in CS, which at least carries some penalty. Does anyone know a way to stop these people ruining our great game?
Slick: The spy feign will be fixed in the next patch.. I don't quite understand what your talking about in Rock2.

Perhaps a voting system would help in TFC.. In fact, I'm sure it would.
DieHard: Slick got the first part, so I'll answer the part about the rock. Some TFC servers have a vote kick option, but not all players are willing to use it. Some things I suggest to help ease the problem, is to go engineer. While engineer, go and dismantle the sentry that is blocking the entrance/exit in the respawn room. I'll check with valve to see if there is anything they can do about it. Another option is to try to contact a server admin for the server. Most servers have an icq number or an email address to report trouble makers.

PF News System
- Sypnh
Hey PF people!

Hey, i was just wondering how u ppl do your news. I mean, how do you update. Do you just change the HTML manually every day that you have news? I was thinking about this and with all the tabels on a site like PF it would get kind of diffucult.

Is there a program you can use or anything? I would just like to know how pretty much all of the gamespy network dose there news.
HardCharger: Well... Here at PlanetFortress, we basically use a special program created by/for Gamespy to update... In short, we type the info into a "box", and "print" it out. It simplifies the process greatly. I know if I had to code everything in by hand, every day, I would be one tired newsie.

As for posting info on the web, there are several good programs you can use, such as Newspro.

Custom PlanetFortress spray?
- Dan Scheeren
I've been going to your site for about 1 year and I'd like it if you would send me the custom PlanetFortress spray I see on the wall there as some sort of return for promoting your site ingame to go to for stuff about TFC and so on.
HardCharger: Well, you asked for it, so here it is.... The PlanetFortress custom spray logo. Anyone who dares to use the best colorspray on the net can grab it here.

Battle of the Planets
- Mirage
Just want to say nice job on the massacre over PlanetHalflife! I never even knew that PainKiller was from CE. Well, good luck in your matches to come.
HardCharger: Thanks! We had a good group of guys playing that night, and most came from good clans and guilds. And no, we aren't RINGERS! /me hands Mirage $20 bucks...

I do like the praise though... Keep it up! Also, don't be afraid to let me know if you think something needs to be changed or what... Good or Bad, we want your thoughts!

Slick Spot
Well guys and gals, Slick is taking a break this week, so I thought I would fill in for him on his Slick Spot. I was talking to DieHard, who we all know and miss, and he gave me this update on his situation:
eh there,

Well I'm all moved into my new house. The only down side is that I can't get cable installed (no dsl). So I'm suffering on my 56k laptop, my desktop doesn't even have a modem. Luckily this stinkpad has monitor/mouse hook up, maybe i can network the two computers together and share a 56k hookup. Yeah maybe I will get tf2 tomorrow too.

peace out,

dh
Well, I can understand how bad this can be, so I was thinking we could start a "Make DieHard Feel Better" campaign. That's right, email DieHard or the mailbag with your thoughts, sympathies, and monetary donations, so we can help him cope with his loss!

Ya'll come back next week for some more of the PF Mailbaggy goodness.
