The Dreaded List of stuff people want fixed... - That got fixed!

This page houses the itemized listing of issues brought up to my attention by YOU, the TF community - followed by our commentary on that entry - that have been fixed!

If you've found a way to recreate, or have seen links for a new version of a cheat or hack listed here, tell us immediately, and we'll go from there.

Remember, that 100 voices speaking in unison is heard much better than 1000 voices screaming at once. Anyhow, on with the show...




12). Unfixed -- Extra Weapons
By using a script that allows one to switch classes very fast, a player can gain extra weapons (pyro with a medkit for example).

The Warthog: We've given Valve the script and all that, so this one should be taken care of as well.

11). Fixed -- FlagRun
A new spy bug in Flagrun (new map) Have seen this one personally, also read another report on alt.games.half-life.tfclassic Was playing Blue, saw Red engineer running out of Red base carrying flag. I assumed he was lost, and tried to attack him. No damage caused, player's name indicated he was a spy on our (blue) side. Followed him back to base, he capped successfully. Both cases were involving a spy disguised as engineer, who never un-disguised when he picked up the flag. Don't know as of yet if other disguised classes are affected, and both players said they did nothing deliberately to cause the bug.

The Warthog: Valve's checking and will remove it if it's there.

10). Fixed -- Avanti
In the map avanti when the enemy team succeded to capture the church I was respawned with the other team, inside the map. It also happened to another guy when WE managed to capture the church. The doors were closed, so I could not get inside the map yet.

I was playing as an engineer, and the guy was playing as a soldier.

9). Fixed -- Unban Hack
This hack allows you to unban yourself (though admins still can get you banned if they work at it) but it's extremely troublesome if they can't figure out some needed info on the user.

The Warthog: The one pertains to the way WON is set up. Hopefully something can be done.

8). Fixed -- Rcon Stolen
When running a listenserver, several times I have had my player's name changed by another player who did not even have rcon. Have you had any other reports of this? I have also seen it on other servers.

7). Unfixed - Spy Feign
This isn't a bug persay, but something that extremely upsets players, especially on pub servers with no admin to call on. Its the feigning spy in the door of the spawn room on 2fort. He can feign in a certain spot and effectively keep people from exiting the spawn room. When I see this, I just change teams and emp his ass, but thats not always an option. I've witnessed this several times, even banned people for it. I'm sure you'll find other claims of this if you haven't seen it yourself.

The Warthog: Definitely something to get rid of, it used to be (QTF) that spy's would end up as a speed bump, not in the way. -- A good trick for the time being: Conc them out of the way.
Valve: This will be fixed.


6). Fixed -- Demo Playback
Currently demo playback is very difficult as you have to have your game server number match the number the demo was recorded on.

The Warthog: This one should be fixed (last I heard) in the next patch.. We'll just have to see.

5). 1.1.0.6 Update Readme
Here's the 1.1.0.6 Update Readme for reference. If a bug was listed on the current items page, it is now here on the fixed items page. The readme is avaliable for reference on other issues.

4). Fixed -- Speed Cheat
The nastiest and fastest spreading cheat I've seen. It accelerates everything on your computer, and throws off your speed in game. This is my #1 concern right now, Valve has the program and is working on a fix.

3). Fixed -- Grenade Bug
The old "prime a grenade, and switch teams" trick. The llama loses one frag for the suicide, but gains multiple for the lame exploit.

Valve: We don't want to punish players for changing teams to balance the game (i.e. resetting their score). We'll fix the grenade bug for sure.
The Warthog: This should be fixed for both switching to another team, and switching to a spectator.

2). Fixed -- In-Game Browser
In Game Browser takes FOREVER to update.

Valve: Something that we did change in the past month was that Filters are sent to the master server when you update your server browser (instead of filtering them on the client). This should make updating your server list much faster.

1). Added (Server Side Patch) -- Spectator Chat
The Warthog: A feature was requested to allow clients to be able to talk to players on the server (and have this set up so the server admin could change it as needed for clan practices vs matches).

Valve: I've added this to TFC. The new server cvar is called "tfc_spectchat". When set to 0, spectators can only chat with other spectators. When set to anything but 0, spectators can chat with everyone in the game.

The cvar is 0 by default.
