1. It therefore imperative that you learn to move as a body of men instead of bodies of men. It is imperative to practice. 2. The set up of a team on the battlefield is always a matter of discussion. However, as the offence is the most important, I would suggest the “Roman” set up as described by Polybius. First layer = your most experienced troops, they are to lead the offence and push forward. They’re expereince will make sure that you can drive your attack into the heart of the enemies defenses. Second layer = your less experienced troops, who are following in the footsteps of the first layer and push forward the attack, cleaningf up after the veterans. Third layer = your youngest troops, they have basically a defensive function. As you might already have experienced, any new recruits at the front only makes good fragging for the opponent. However, also make sure you put a veteran in the rear to push the young recruits around and organize the defence. |
