TFC Game Info: Bots
"Bots" are computer generated players with in the game. Ideally; they look, feel, act, and play like normal players in Half-Life, but you can take them on on your own computer. It's quite easy to do and very fun. Depending on where the coding has been focused, some bots are better than others in various ways (some bots are better at being a Sniper than a Soldier for instance), thus why we provide reviews of each bot...In Half-Life, bots were not possible without the source code of the particular mod any coder wanted to make one for. However, Botman has been able to change all that. He has found out how to modify the mod, as to only add to the code allowing a bot.
Botman has also gone far enough to make easy install/uninstall files should you want to change bots, or remove an installed bots. After setting all this up, he has allowed his templates for the bots and file system to be used by other coders interested in making bots. Many mad props go out to him, and any coder who takes the time to code their bot.
Bot Resources
- Botman's Bot- The man who figured out how to get a bot into a Half-Life mod. His TFC Bot isn't the best, but the framework has given a lot.
- ODD_Bot - Another very good start for a bot. The snipers are deadly. More features such as "follow me" commands & the other classes have good things going, but the bots aren't tough as nails just yet.
- FoXBot - A VERY good bot in the works. Map location recognition, leader behaviorism and all sorts of good stuff.
