Team Fortress Classic Configs: Introduction
— Shoe -TPF-, PainKilleR, DieHard, & The Warthog
.cfg files found in your TFC directory are configuration files that TFC uses to set up the game.
They can be used for a number of
things, including setting the game's internet, video, and sound settings, as well as the commands that
are executed when you press keys on your keyboard or use your mouse or joystick. You can open them with
Notepad or any other text editor, edit them, and save them back into your TFC folder, and the game will
use them for those settings.
A lot of players like to use the default binds in the game, while others do not. If you are like me and
you like to customize the controls, this section is for you. To start off, back up your cfg files. Then
we can move on, and soon enough, you will be comfortable editing configs, creating your own aliases and
custom binds. We've divided the config guide up into the following sections:
Introduction
Variable Settings
Basics of Binding
Basics of Aliases
Standard Aliases
Organization
Communication
If you would like to follow along in a full config set (though this guide is set up
so that you can use your own files), we offer the following selection. These will be
referred to as a "PF Config" in the guide:
Cableless's Config
DieHard's Config
Warthog's Config
