WARNING ... Due to the size of some of the models
and their skins...these paks will not run on a 16meg machine, the bare
minium I'd recommend would be atleast 20meg.....24 to be safe (what the
hell are u only doing with 16 meg anyway?!)
Also if using software..put this in your command
line when running TF...and dont try allocating more than 1/2 your system
memory unless you have shitloads..
-winmen xxxx (x's being the ammount of memory
u wish to allocate to quake)
for glquake users, use the command line '-heapsize
xxxx' instead
---------------------------------------------------
Simply unzip this zip into your quake/fortress
directory.
Select the pak/s u want to use on your system,
and simply rename it to the next pak file in the directory
Pakx.pak contains the new models/skins/sounds.
Softpak.pak contains a fix for software users.
Example:
If you have a pak0.pak, pak1.pak & pak2.pak,
just re-name the new pak to pak3.pak etc.
If you don't have any paks, name it pak0.pak..or
just unpack it all
------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------
You also need to rename paksoft.pak to the
next pak file after the pak file u just created.
Because these pak files are optimized for
3dfx ninja glow in the dark pc's, you need the softpak which has another
copy of the Sentry turret mdl only in it.
------------------------------------------------------------------
Note for GLquake people:
For this to work correctly, you need to delete
the quake/id1/glquake dir.. ..ASWELL AS quake/fortress/glquake dir!
These directories hold the meshes of your old
sentry/rocket launcher/shotguns etc.
If you don't these mdls will look all screwed
up and folded over and inside out.
After you delete the folder a new one will
be made the next time you run glquake again.
All the mdls that come with Team fortress are
meshed in the quake/fortress/ glquake dir.
All mdls that originally come with Quake1
are meshed in quake/id1/glquake dir.
(just make sure after you delete those folders,
you run team fortress FIRST!, before quake...once they mesh then
its ok. So again, delete both folders THEN run teamfortress first NOT quake.
