The part with the church was quite eery, the crucified monster thing at the altar was quite scary!
the progenitor for the classic badland2... essential
Quite a cool map with memorable setpieces, such as the sinking boat at the beginning, a breakable wall and a church that actually resembles a real church (cross shaped, has an altar, the elevated speaker's podium and a bell tower complete with a bell with low ringing sound).
The author certainly had a refreshing approach to his level design, not constraining himself much by the style and design of the stock id levels. It's like he wasn't making a Quake map, but completely his own thing, just using Quake assets. And considering he made it all with a text editor in October 1996, really impressive!
I like this map, has memorable setpieces such as a sinking ship and a realistic church. I give this a 4 star rating
