The Death Trap

Medium sized Metal map with a few DOOM textures. Fairly random architecture. Barely average.

Quite a quirky little map with the early nineties first map charm going for it, but for a first map it's a commendable one. The texture mix, architecture and atmospheric lighting give the map a fairly unique looks of its own. The gameplay flows pretty well, too, and some fun fights can be had here.

There is this one point, where the player might unnecessarily have to wait for quite a bit before being able to proceed, which breaks the flow. Also, sometimes the player isn't informed what a button does, which can get confusing.

The map has the occasional weird placement of powerups and teleport destinations that come off as features intended for deathmatch. The annoying thing about the teleports is that the player is teleported close to ledges so quick action needs to be taken if you don't want to fall. The map also requires you to find a secret to finish the map, but it's not too hard to find.

All in all, I think I'll rate this 2,5/5.
