Found this when my friend asked me if there was a Sailor Moon-themed Quake map: this is the only Quaddicted search result for "sailor."
Anyway, it's a neat little metal map, around id-quality and quite dark and tight in places. Combat (on skill 2) is heavy on ogres and particularly fiends, with some scrags and a few shamblers thrown in as well. Interestingly, you pick up the SNG right at the start and there's no regular NG.
As the editor's comment says, you have to rocket jump over the gold key door, but the map all but spells it out for you so it's not obtuse or surprising. The health situation (on skill 2) was not plentiful but good enough that rocket jumping didn't present a serious health problem for me. Anyway, it's a really short map so even if you get stuck with low health it isn't much time to replay it up till that point.
Lane: "Sailor Moon-themed Quake map". It's not Sailor Moon and it's not Quake, but if your friend also plays Doom I've learned about a mod called HDoom a few days ago. H is for hentai. Maybe he'll dig it.
Nice find anyway. I'm a sucker for metal maps so I'll have to try this one.
Again, it's not my taste to increase difficulty of the map by simpling teleporting some monster in your back and all around you.
The mandatory rocket jumping in order to progress in the map was really interesting. Liked the idea.
Also, the non similarity between the two doors at the beginning was good, hate to do the same thing twice, it feel like the creator copied and pasted it.
Stylistically similar to the E3 id maps, but IMO somewhat lower-quality. The layout is planar whereas the id maps tend to be more compact and creative in how they use space. The lighting is also poorer than in E3. I get the sense that was intentional, i.e. the author wanted to give the map a dark, gritty atmosphere, but for me it just made it look kind of drab.
I would give this small metal quake map a three out of five rating. I enjoyed the level designer's implementation of using rocket jumping in order to progress through the level and thought it was a unique level design decision. However the map was quite dark and hard to navigate throughout the level. However i enjoyed playing this quake map and would recommend downloading this map if you want something different from the norm of level designing.
