Not a crap, but the "run to pentagram of protection or die" gameplay is not interesting for me.
The visuals, for the most part, are great. The layout is also great (cause, ya know, Id made it). The gameplay, however, is NOT great. It's way too difficult, enemies are all crammed into rooms and climb over each other to eviscerate you. Pretty much your only chance (unless you're a god at Quake) is the pentagram. Also, why put lightning gun ammo underwater? That was the cause of multiple deaths when I accidentally ran over it then got autoswitched to lightning. One more thing, why is the exit where it is? That's not where it was in Doom II, so it's rather confusing since the rest of the level is base off the original (there are some additions, but there was no reason to do that). Not recommended.
Architecturally not a bad remake but the gameplay is just terrible. There are five shamblers in this level and not nearly enough ammo. Imagine if Doom II Map 01 had five fricking cyberdemons in it. That would be absolutely awful, right? How about then you cramp the rooms full of cacodemons as well? There you have this level pretty much. Way too difficult and not fun at all. Plus they moved the exit to a ridiculous location. 1/5
Had a decent time fighting through this one. It's heavily reliant on maximizing the use of the various power-ups that are tucked away. I wouldn't call it good, but it was a quick and intense battle for what it was.
The map sure took a lot more liberties with the original map than what I expected. I'd say I concur with Noxat on this one.
The visuals are great, the map is fun somehow but i fell off the map lol, thats a solid 2 stars.
As everyone else through the years have said, fantastic brushwork on display for the most part, however, just an absolute dense black hole of combat and overwhelming enemies with no balance to speak of. I wish I had more to say here, not worth a complete.
