Midnight Stalker
Medium-sized metal dungeon in E3M6 mashup style with a built-in skill selection room. It also features custom item boxes. The map source is included in the PAK.Note: This map requires an engine port with increased limits. A standalone version optimized for vanilla Quake compatibility is available here.

Excellent stuff! Socks brushwork always amazes me!!
Nice in all the aspects, this map's biggest highlight is the originality of the ideas used.
This map is excellent. Amazing brushwork, classic textures and gameplay with some really nice humour! I also love the medieval item boxes and stuff... and it only took him 2 weeks to make? The guy is a machine!
Playthrough with commentary
Great stuff! I love how after getting to the end you have all these convenient teleporters to search for secrets you've missed. Though I've only been able to find 8/10 (one with the use of rocketjump so that doesn't count).
ossM map. couldn't figure out the yellow armor though.
Recently replayed this, and it was if anything even more fun the second time around. Gameplay is incredibly well balanced and the environment is as beautiful as can be expected from sock.
Loved the numerous secrets, and the traps that can be used against monsters. It is amazing just how well relatively tight space is used in this map; how it manages to be consistently interesting without feeling cramped.
Dammit, 100 of 101 kills -- where on Earth is the last one? Only 6 of 10 secrets, though. This is rather lovely work, a somewhat non-linear castle interior leading to a climactic arena battle of the kind that is best won by running around the outside allowing infighting to thin the ranks. I think it would have been improved by just one or two more wide-open areas, but all in all this deserves its very positive reputation.
While not on par with Sock's later humongous extravagazas, this is still top tier quality. Tight but not cramped, action-packed and very fun to play.
Gorgeous map. It's been a little while since I've played something as fundamentally strong as this one. A thorough appreciation of the player's abilities and limitations runs through the whole thing from start to end, resulting in fantastic gameplay pace without feeling too linear or condescending. The gimmicks are elegant, nothing is unfair or obscure and there's no falling back on giant arenas or monster hordes. Graphically it's a very attractive realisation of the classic Quake runic look. I really don't have any criticism at all.
Jesus, Sock, why do you have to make life so hard?! Beautiful map and very challenging indeed, a lot of fun. Took me 37 mins just on normal. Great lighting and atmosphere, the only reason I'm giving it a 4 is because it all looked very similar and it was easy to get lost. Very nice environment though, love the uplighting.

Had to trigger in fighting to get past the very start. This was a fun map.
One of the my fave Runic maps, play it now
