Slightly crude, slightly plain, but very good for its time. Highlights of the map include several challenging combats and a fun surprise ending.
Yeah, it does look quite plain for the most part, but there are some rooms with some really nice detailing. The map changes from theme to theme (medieval, runic, windtunnels), but the transition doesn't feel unnatural, and the change of architecture makes me interested to see what's to come next.
The combat events vary quite a bit and provide a nice little challenge. Item balance is pretty good, even if you are given a rocket launcher fairly early, but some high tier monsters are thrown at the player in an attempt to balance it out. The length of the map is just right, too.
I'd probably rate this 3,5 if I could, but since I can't, I guess I'll round it up to 4 then.
This is a fun quake map to play from 1997. It's architecture and brushwork is varied to provide the player with different locations to explore. Although, I could not find the silver key within the map so i had to rocket jump to reach the next section of the map. As stated above, I enjoyed the final of the map as well as it was different from other quake maps that i have played thus far. I would give this map a three out of five rating and would recommend that it is worth a download. Too bad this is the only released level from this level designer for quake as this map shows that the author has much potential in game design.
@pmk Here's how to find the silver key (encrypted with rot13.com):
Evtug orsber gur oevqtr gung yrnqf gb gur fvyire-xrl qbbe, gurer'f n ebbz jvgu n svercynpr. Gur fvyire xrl vf uvqqra va n frperg punzore oruvaq gung svercynpr.
to JMP thank you for the hint i was able to find the silver key in order to complete the map.
This one was a little confusing, but I did get through it. Rated a 4... not great, but definitely good.
