Dysnystaxis (...A Chance Meeting With Somnus)
A fixed version of Skacky's map from Retro Jam 1 (fixes an issue that made it impossible to load saved games): A small map set in a medieval courtyard and the surrounding buildings. Features somewhat non-linear gameplay.Note: This map is meant to be played with the retrojam1 pack.

This is a lovely little map and my second favourite from Retro Jam 1 (my favourite being sock's).
As others have commented in the Func_Msgboard release thread, it makes very good use of space and manages to feel fairly complex despite its compact size, in part thanks to the non-linear gameplay and vertical, interconnected layout. Secrets are fair and rewarding. Combat is quite hectic, but I did not find it overly hard.
The visuals are atmospheric and very impressive for something created in such a short time frame. As with most of the maps from Retro Jam 1, the aesthetic is very much "sock medieval", and although I think that the standard Quake items would have been a better choice for a retro theme, sock's custom pickups do fit right in.
One minor nitpick: given the theme of the jam, it is a pity that traps did not play did not play a more significant role in this map. As a fan of traps that force the player to stop and think for a while, I would have liked to see more than the odd token nail shooter.
While MFX's map was rebalanced, this map simply fixes an error, and therefore be integrated into the main pack.
This is one of my favorite maps in terms of visual design. It's a simple concept (Open courtyard surrounded by medieval entrances) but it is executed so well it simply screams polish.
The lightning is great and gives brilliance to the windows and torches. Just a fantastic job all around!
