This is the older (and inferior) of the two Quake versions. The file name polygon2.zip is somewhat deceptive.

It was named polygon2.zip because the original Polygon Base (for Doom2) had already been released as polygon.zip and I didn't want people to confuse the two.

When I released the final Quake version, I had to come up with a third file name, so that's where polybase.zip came from.

I would prefer anyone interested in playing this to download polybase.zip instead.
