quake on steam

ive been looking and i dont see anything that relates to the steam release of quake, such as installing mods or other things.(yes im lazy)

Yes you are indeed lazy. :) Look at the Quaddicted front page; there's a "5 minute Quake guide" to the left. If you click those links one by one (Download Quake, Quake Installation, etc.), you should be set.

The steam version should be no different from any other version, in that what you need is the pak files and a custom engine. All of that is explained in the above-mentioned links.

Does that solve your problem?

And what's wrong with caving?

It should be somewhere like (...)/Steam/SteamApps/common/Quake*
